If someone like Mark Sanford wins the repub nomination

it will mean a whole new ballgame.

Seems to me that running on that fact that you can beat trump isn’t enough. You also need to be prepared to take on real life conservatives.

And there will be no crossovers in that case.

It could happen that Repubs do get rid of trump in impeachment in order to get a challenger to the Dem.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Even SC Republicons hate Sanford for not helping Katie Arrington keep the seat he lost to her in the primary, ushering in Democratic representative Joe Cunningham.

And Wimpy Weld ain't goin' nowhere neither.

Though to be fair, and with the right in almost total disarray down there (including a president, just trounced, seriously considering resigning to avoid a second round), he might just have a chance.

But only at the nomination.

Odds are it will be trump, unless GOPers think they are doomed nationally and locally because of trump.

We’ll just have to see. I think most of our candidates will fare well even if trump drops out.

But yes, once the GOP thinks Trump is a liability, they will have a strategy, though it might not be executable because Trump has something on every one of them and no one is going to tame his ego and narcissism. Doing it for the good of the party is an alien concept to Trump.

Trump is also vulnerable to health issues, hair dye issues.

would be someone running as an Independent. There are any number of people that could pull enough votes away from Trump.
