Practical Issue w/Warren?

I'm "pretty sure" I'm going to vote for Warren for the nomination but I also thought of one issue that could potentially hurt Democrats if she is elected POTUS and that is the matter of what would happen to her Senate seat if she leaves. Given that the current governor of Massachusetts is a Republican (I believe?), wouldn't he be able to replace her with a Republican for her Senate seat, at least until a special election can be held? Of course, this may or may not be an issue depending on when the current governor is up for re-election and what the rules are when a Senate seat is vacated before the end of a term. Is there anybody here from Massachusetts whom might be able to shed some light on this? I would be interested in hearing the logistics about how Warren winning the Presidency might affect our ability to also control the Senate after the 2020 elections. As I understand it, our path to winning the Senate in 2020 is possible but awfully tight.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I am unwilling to entertain disqualifications for good candidates, that are not directly related to their ability to attain the Oval Office.

(Not saying you're wrong for bringing it up though.)

for that reason alone to be sure. She is an awesome Senator and I love that she has so many plans for so many things. I feel like she would get so much done.

According to this article, the Republican Governor of Massachusetts would appoint a Republican Senator only until a Special Election could be held. Massachusetts would most likely elect the Democratic Candidate for Senator.

I plan on crawling over hot, broken glass on my hands and knees to get to the polling place on Election Day 2020. ANY Democrat currently likely to win is going to be a 1000 times better than Trump.

She can resign in November, then a special election would be held, probably in April. The biggest problem is that people think plain vanilla Charlie Baker is a moderate, he just plays the part, he isn't. I don't think we'll get another Scott Brown, I think either Joe Kennedy or Maura Healey would run, either one of them would beat any republican appointed. But there would be a few months with a republican senator from Mass.
