On Thursday, ORourke delivered a speech that was billed as his return to the trail. He spoke outdoors, with El Paso stretched out behind him, in a park he used to walk through to get from his house to his high school. I gotta tell you, ORouke said. Theres some part of me, and its a big part of me, that wants to stay here, and be with my family, and be with my community. He spoke of his overwhelming pride in El Paso, and addressed his critics in the Democratic Party who have soured on him as a Presidential candidate. There have even been some who have suggested that I stay in Texas and run for Senate, he said. (John Cornyn, Texass senior senator, is up for reëlection in 2020.) But that would not be good enough for this community. That would not be good enough for El Paso. That would not be good enough for this country. We must take the fight directly to the source of this problem. He meant Trump. And yet, in a way, he agreed with his critics. He didnt want to return to the campaign trail hed left behind, where hed been flounderingbad polls, bad press, bad debate performances. I know there is a way to do this betterand that came to me last week, he said. He wouldnt be going back for corn dogs in Iowa. Instead, he said, hed go to those places where Donald Trump has been terrorizing and terrifying and demeaning our fellow-Americans. Thats where you will find me in this campaign.

(89,247 posts)he has only seriously thought about running just months before he got into it.
he is doing his thing and it's helping the party as a whole. he went after the media for the way they report on trump instead of whining about how everyone is unfair to him like some people do.

(26,325 posts)Symone Sanders is correct that the gaffe coverage is a narrative.
You should support him in their quest for fair treatment and not refer to it as whining.
The Biden campaign has every right to push back on the press.

Biden Advisor Symone Sanders Clashes With CNNs Keilar Over Biden Gaffes: Its A Press Narrative
(Simone)Sanders responded, This is a press narrative, not a voter narrative. If you were to look at the coverage in Iowa this weekend and juxtapose the local newspapers and local television coverage to national media coverage you would have thought these reporters were at two different events.
She said she wont tell the press how to do their jobs, but added everyone should elevate the conversation and that we cannot allow this election to devolve in a tit for tat over name-calling and gaffes, something that does not matter. This is not something thats registering with the American people.

(1,713 posts)I saw Beto in Nashville. He's dynamic and fresh. To be honest, I'm tired of the same old, recycled, DC politicians. Our party needs a new generation of leadership. I was hoping for a Governor out side of DC. Of course, I would vote for a goat if it beats Trump. When we run nominees under 55, we win and the contrast to an old, bloated Trump would be stark
