(34,195 posts)Some will say "Well, those are his initials".
Others are turned off by it, seeing it as a 'playground taunt'
alienating his supporters whose votes we will need in November 2020.
In my humble opinion.

Thanks for kicking the thread concerning what he said in the debate that didn't jive with the facts.

(42,862 posts)Why would any BS supporter put more importance in their "feelings" than they would in supporting the party's nominee?

Over a schoolyard taunt? If that is even what the BS moniker is, Id say Bernie supporters, at least as you characterize them, are incredibly childish spoil-sports with no idea of whats at stake in this election.
Does not reflect well on BS.

(42,862 posts)You know... For every hour spent trying to cajole, placate and validate a handful of angry BS supporters who want to blackmail the party, we could instead spend the SAME amount of time and effort to get HUNDREDS of new voters (along with other hundreds of previously disinterested voters, too!)
It just doesn't make sense to waste our time on anyone who will ONLY support Democrats if BS is the nominee. Any efforts to court and flatter any disgruntled and butthurt BS supporters (ie: the ones who threaten to "vote Green" or who threaten to "stay home'') is a fucking waste of time.
Honestly, there are much more productive ways to bring voters and supporters (and volunteers and donors) to our side.

(5,170 posts)a contractual benefit that the workers won't need any more because now it is being provided as part of a universal plan is not "something extra" or a "special carve-out," it is fundamental contract law. The workers who have a contract should get the benefit of their bargain. And by the way, the workers who don't have a contract should get one, and that requires fundamental improvements to labor law and corporate law.
Plus Bernie, didn't "rewrite" his Medicare for All plan. It's S. 1129, and Booker, Gillibrand, and Harris are all co-sponsors. It has the same text it has had since it was introduced. The WaPo and other outlets reported that he "changed his plan" because they just read his labor plan and only now understand how Bernie proposes to makes unions whole if they forwent wage increases by bargaining for more contributions toward rising healthcare premiums instead.

(11,986 posts)The only "special carveout" here is, if union members negotiated healthcare as part of their compensation, and MFA means that the employer is no longer paying for that healthcare, that employer savings must somehow be passed back to the employees, so that the value of what the employees negotiated is not diminished.
This is fact checked very clearly by Politico at this link.

(6,414 posts)When he was criticized in the debate for not knowing for sure if his plan would mean better health care for unions, he said "I do, I wrote the damn bill." -The Catstitution
That's....not how I remember it. Let's go to the tape.
As you can see from the video, they were discussing which benefits would be covered for seniors. They weren't talking about unions.
Accordingly, we rate The Catstitution's claim as MOSTLY BULLSHIT.
