Biden mistakes New Hampshire for Vermont during campaign stop

Former Vice President Joe Biden mistakenly praised the state of Vermont Saturday when asked about his impression of Keane, New Hampshire by reporters during a press gaggle.

Video of the exchange shows Biden remarking about Vermont's "beauty" after an unseen reporter asks him for his "impression" of the town (Keane, N.H.).

"I love this place. Look, what’s not to like about Vermont in terms of the beauty of it? And what a neat town, this is like a scenic, beautiful town. The mayor's been a good guy, everybody has been really friendly."

A request for comment from Biden's campaign was not immediately returned.

Never underestimate the republican propaganda machine, and that is why Biden needs to be on top of his game, which will be very difficult for him, I think his mouth runs faster than his brain sometimes.

and if by now people do not understand that we have a very ignorant voting population, regardless of party, then we are in trouble. Gaffs do count, and he needs to stop them.

The fact that people voted for Jill Stein should tell you a lot, and people like that will turn away because of what "Biden said", those who support him will know it was nothing, but it will be digested by republicans and then thrown at the media, and the media will also run with it like they are doing now, some people who do not know better will eat it up and there goes a vote for a Democrat. I wish it was much simpler but it is not.

when they fit a media narrative. For instance, when Scott Brown sometimes said "Massachusetts" instead of "New Hampshire" during his 2014 Senate run, that was seized on as supposedly proof that he didn't care about NH. It wasn't. It was proof that slips of the tongue happen, to everyone.

I suggest you read the other replies in this thread from people who know how common this sort of slip-up is.

And Skya Rhen in reply 42 linked to an article at The Hill mentioning O'Rourke and Warren making similar mistakes:

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/458705-biden-mistakes-new-hampshire-for-vermont-during-campaign-stop

Other candidates have tripped up on the campaign trail while mentioning where they are in recent weeks, including former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas), who reportedly mixed up South Carolina and North Carolina during a campaign stop in Greensboro in April, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who misspoke while referring to California and Washington D.C. earlier this week.

Bruce Springsteen forgets which city he’s playing and shouts out wrong name at gig (Feb 25, 2016)

<snip>

"Bruce Springsteen suffered an embarrassing moment at a gig in Cleveland on Tuesday night (February 23) when he accidentally shouted out the wrong city name while greeting fans.

Springsteen was performing at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio when he made the mistake, exclaiming: “Party noises Pittsburgh!” before quickly correcting himself by saying: “And Cleveland, too!”. Listen to audio of the moment beneath.

Terrie Carr, of 105.5 WDHA in Springsteen’s native New Jersey, told Billboard that the mistake was likely due to Springsteen’s heavy touring schedule.

“I have seen this happen frequently and I completely believe it to be a touring moment… especially on long tours, tours that dates are rescheduled or that are geographically piled on top of one another,” she said."
