(13,037 posts)We have healthcare but we have young adults who've just started their careers working for small firms that either don't offer or offer limited healthcare. I want to make sure our kids get the coverage they need at a price they can afford. Obamacare does exactly that. It took an enormous effort for Obama and Biden, and Dems in power at the time, to move mountains to get it passed. We should not have to start over again but work to improve it. Without it millions of Americans will not be able to afford good healthcare. It is a matter of life & death for many, and for others food on the table versus paying for healthcare.

usually a long public life was seen as negative becsuse there is a longer record to go after people on. but it can also help becsuse when people know you some attacks can be less effective.

(6,181 posts)His reason is that his wife is pregnant with their 9th child which is due in October. The fetus apparently has been diagnosed to have a heart condition requiring intensive care. Rep. Duffy felt he needs to leave Congress to share that burden of care with his wife.
Duffy is a strong outspoken supporter of Donald Trump. Duffy has voted on more that one occasion to repeal the ACA (aka ObamaCare) with NO replacement plan. He has also been an outspoken advocate of wanting everyone to have a healthcare savings account.
Now that his family is facing the birth of a child that apparently will need heart surgery(s) and extend hospitalization(s).
I hope Mr. Duffy now realizes these facts.
1. A healthcare savings account won't last long given those surgeries and hospitalization expenses.
2. That the ACA has removed the lifetime cap on medical expenses.
3. That the child will be able to remain on his parent's plan until he/she is twenty-six.
4. Most importantly the child CAN NOT be denied national health care because of a pre-existing condition.
Maybe God is sending a message.
Maybe this time Mr. Duffy will see that Obamacare should be improved to make it better. Improved not repealed.
I hope the child lives a long healthy life and the family gets through this trying ordeal with the help of the ACA.

(68,555 posts)to stay on our insurance and when she developed a dangerous depressive diorder that nearly cost my baby her life,we had coverage for her to receive the care she needed. And just this year because she is still on our health plan...we were able to find out what was really going on and she is now receiving the proper medicine...it has been life altering for her and for us...her family.
