(58,349 posts)I believe the parent company of said franchises has great sway in determining the cost of using their brand and would have great influence in promoting a livable wage of $15.00 an hour.
They could adjust the required investment of 1-2.2 million for one.

More than 80 percent of McDonalds restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by franchisees. The company lists consistently in the Top 10 Franchises in the world in Entrepreneur Magazine, and Franchise Times Magazine ranks McDonalds Number 1 among the top 200 franchises.
By now, the McDonalds story is legend. The first McDonalds restaurant was an unassuming hamburger stand owned by Richard and Maurice McDonald in California, opened in 1940. But in 1954, a man named Ray Kroc, who had sold the McDonalds his Multimixer milk-shake makers, paid the restaurant a visit, then offered to open several more McDonalds restaurants. Kroc eventually bought the company from Dick and Mac McDonald and oversaw McDonalds worldwide growth to more than 30,000 restaurants today with more than $22 billion in annual revenues. McDonalds is one of the great American success stories.
McDonalds Franchise Cost / Initial Investment / Income
Most McDonalds owner/operators have entered the corporation by purchasing an existing restaurant. To open a McDonalds franchise, however, requires a total investment of $1-$2.2 million, with liquid capital available of $750,000. The franchise fee is $45,000.

(54,770 posts)of McDonald's employees, each employee would get about $80 per year more. That's about 4 cents per hour.
Again, I think $15/hr should be a minimum, and I don't care if their burger prices have to go up, or profits decline. But this kind of BS from Sanders is just that, BS. It doesn't do us any good.
