1. It's 53-47 now, so if it will take 60 votes for cloture, we need to pick up 13.

You really think Manchin is voting for Medicare for all.

Probably realistically 8-10. The public option was killed in a 59 seat senate majority.

one more, as we'll lose Jones in Alabama more than likely.)

So that makes 7 needed. Even then, there will be other Democratic Senators who refuse to vote for MFA as well. I also do not see us blowing out the filibuster under Schumer.

12. I think 60 will not even be enough tbh, as I think at least 5/7 (or even more) Democratic Senators

will never vote for MFA. The House will have well over 50 (I would guess close to 80 or even 100) who will also never vote for it.

I think just getting the Public Option is going to be back-breakenly hard. Hell, IF the SCOTUS strikes down the entirety of the ACA, just clawing THAT back to some semblance of par with today's structure is going to be a heavy, heavy lift.

Colour me one cynical (and IMHO realistic) end-stage Millennial.

I am pointing out that Bernie’s M4A has no chance of becoming law.

At least not while he is alive.

A public option could get republican votes if the right Repubs are in Congress.

...Joe Leiberman to go along with it, but that was no reason not to go for it anyway.

We need to go for the "gold", universal healthcare aka M4A, in order to excite our base and attract repubs and indies who have been hurt by our current system. Otherwise, we Dems just look like they have another "plan".

8. It is just another plan. And it is not supported by a majority

of Dems if it means getting rid of insurance based healthcare.

The truth as I see it, few people believe in Bernie ‘s M4A.

Healthcare is an issue but most voters do not want a single payer system.

I know it is a thing the left supports but if they really cared about health care for all the realistic thing to do is to improve on the ACA.

That is what most voters want and is the most doable in the least amount of time.

Bernie and Liz know it is too. It ain't happening. They probably couldn't get 50 Dems to vote it, much less Republicans.
