Beto should focus on winning something in Texas, Senator, Governor, something. Can you imagine what kind of political force this guy would be with a full Senate term under his belt? He is the next JFK. But you can't crack open the wine until it is ready. My humble opinion

“There also are two events, one in Johns Island and one at Columbia’s Benedict College, that are not open to the general public on his itinerary.”

Breitbart and other rightwingers have been showing up to Beto's public events this week and he has been schooling them when they ask questions.

7. breitbart website got start about 2007, and imo it got used by putin to feed talk radio

drudge was the go-to then (fed by the MIC and GOP think tanks) and they needed something to horn in on talk radio - and they did - palin for VP, "climategate" hoax, debt default, etc. they may have been using talk radio even before that but that's about when limbauigh started breaking from GOP 'establishment'

imo one of mueller's spinoffs is about russian use of talk radio - prob one barr killed - and it's amazing media still has not asked sam nunberg about his quote in NYMagazine 4/3/16 that he "listened to 1000s of hours of talk radio" in 2014 and trump was getting his reports - the same year a russian troll said they "got a list of topics to write about"

russians know how to give a guy a stroke....

I had concerns when I first saw this. No politician has a right to decide which members of the press cover their actions.

Being reported now that New York Times reporters are criticizing Beto’s actions as an attack on the concept of a free press.
Please don’t spin this as some kind of win for Beto; it was a mistake.

like his town hall last night. No press, legit or not, had the right to be in the room. This was the absolutely correct decision, and ashamed that anyone would take the side of Breitbart on DU.

What specifically constitutes and defines "journalism?"

If we broaden the definition to include any and all troll-bloggers, then it begs the question how a campaign determines who can come in the door when room for all is not available.

Breitbart is as much a member of the press, free or otherwise, as the Oakland Raiders. What they are is a propaganda arm of the Rethuglican party and a hate group. If they can claim to be members of the press, than so can Fred Phelps and members of Westboro Baptist Church.

Why New York Times reporters rallied around Breitbart following an O’Rourke campaign event

It’s not typical to see New York Times journalists rallying around Breitbart, but that’s what happened Tuesday.

They did so after senior Breitbart editor Joel Pollak published an article lamenting that he was asked to leave a Beto O’Rourke campaign event at Benedict College, a historically black college in South Carolina, earlier that day — a move Pollak and others saw as an attack on the freedom of the press.
