Biden rejects report he flubbed details in anecdote about war heroes

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/29/biden-war-heroes-report-1478760?fbclid=IwAR2mAberUWTBMRvMOUoLZy0lBqFHonDyvNQ7ddZRwIqWIWIoYR8Jw3lCeqo

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday rebuffed a news report that he has recently misrepresented an anecdote on the campaign trail about giving awards for valor to members of the military, possibly conflating three separate real life events.

Though Biden said he hadn’t seen the Washington Post article, he told a reporter for the The Post and Courier after a campaign event in South Carolina that he stood by his retellings of meeting with heroes of the Afghanistan war over the last decade.

According to The Post, Biden has told a shifting and increasingly dramatic account of a trip to Afghanistan while vice president to award a medal to a heroic soldier who initially resisted the honor out of guilt. The former vice president most recently told the story at a campaign event in New Hampshire last Friday.

But The Post found after conducting “interviews with more than a dozen U.S. troops, their commanders and Biden campaign officials, it appears as though the former vice president has jumbled elements of at least three actual events into one story of bravery, compassion and regret that never happened.”

support MFA which is not popular and the AA vote is very important in those states...andno one save Biden is doing well with these voters...Warren in particular is doing very badly with this important demographic. We need to get rid of Trump and we won't do that in a center left counrty if we run left...look at the states, the senate map and who won the house...moderates.

candidates too. I want to keep an open mind as much as I can at this point. I am not convinced that he is the only one who can win the rust belt, though I agree that it certainly looks that way now.

All I know for sure is we have to get that awful person out of office. Sometimes I still cannot believe it actually happened.

after all the facts were laid out to him he still refused to acknowledge the gaffe.

IMO he comes across as a bullshitter; a stereotypical politician. I will be switching to Warren in a heartbeat when the time comes. I still think Pete would be amazing but, unfortunately, too many in this country still homophobic . He could show trump to be the fool he is on the debate stage in a way most Americans have never seen before.

Let's say Warren ends up with the nomination. My huge fear (and this goes double or triple or more if it was, by some miracle, Bernie) is that at that point we will end up with Howard Schultz surely jumping in as an indie and shelling Warren as well as Trump. Also, if it was Bernie, I could see Bloomberg jumping in too. Not sure if Bloomberg would do that with Warren, but Schultz will for sure.

Then there is Steyer. I do not think he will run as an indie, BUT I can so see him going negative with 100m USD worth of adverts in the primary against all the front-runners in a mad dash to try and win, which will really damage us as well. It will not only alienate voters (even if only a small %) against all our Democratic candidates he targets, but it gives Rump and the Rethugs built in ammo for the general.

I am just hoping that Biden can keep on going long enough at a high enough level to boot Trump the fuck out. He really is the best shot we have IMHO. There is no Plan B in the centre left, moderate liberal lane I can possibly see atm, and we have been looking hard. I have no idea why Harris tacked so hard to the left, as she knew that Bernie and Warren had that lane on lock down, and now she is in rollback mode, which is not a good place to be in an election. Who knows, maybe she can pull it off, but it would a truly miraculous recovery (anything is possible, we now have an orange white nationalist carnival barker for a POTUS.) Joe's VP pick will be massively important, more than anytime since 1960 (w/o Johnson, no JFK) perhaps. The main 'positive' (wow is this a horrible positive) is that Rump is so nuts, so fucked up, that the bar for his opponent is so bloody low.

We need desperately to take back the Senate too, so we need coattails like crazy, and I see Biden as having the longest ones, especially in those 13 Red Senate seats we can, in theory, flip in 2020. Assuming Jones in AL goes down, we need to flip 5 of the 13 to get to 51-49, 6 flips to get to 52-48 and not have to worry about Manchin and Sinema voting as they do, which is 55% of the time with the Rethugs, and 7 flips if Hickenlooper wins in CO and goes the Manchin/Sinema route, which I do not see, or at least I so hope he does not follow that model.

They say quite clearly they interviewed all those involved, and none of their accounts match with Biden’s, which isn’t even the same on every telling.

Denying facts that can be checked is not something that’s going to help and will only fan the flames.

He needs new advisors.

"I think it's ridiculous," Biden told the Post & Courier. "The essence — that there's anything I said about that — that wasn't the essence of the story. The story was that he refused the medal because the fella he tried to save and risked his life saving died. That's the beginning, middle and end. The rest of you guys can take it and do what you want with it."

Did you know that the black doctor who invented transfusions died when he was denied a transfusion because he was black?

Please don't research this, it's the ESSENCE that matters!
