(31,261 posts)some cases, private land. For Biden to get a nationwide ban, he would have to sue states to take away their control and win the lawsuits, a tall order.
The people who you should be looking sideways at are the ones saying that they would ban fracking on Day One, that is posdible on federal land, but not state land, tribal land or private land.

(68,455 posts)(not about his age...but about his lack of 21st century thinking) Sacrficed jobs for nothing. We need green energy jobs. This is the future. But as long as people fall for GOP tricks and keep electing these asshats...nothing will ever change...so tired of this shit.
And we have our share of Trump nutters although he is underwater here...real chance Biden will carry Ohio...he got it for Pres. Obama twice. But in the meantime we have Trump who encourages white supremacists and crazies.
The guy who wanted to blow up or shoot up a Planned Parenthood Clinic is in a youngstown township (Boardman) this is the clinic my girls go to for their care...we support Planned Parenthood. They take insurance and we all get our care there and donate.

(5,553 posts)Shale oil is dependent on fracking and is 6.5 million barrels per day. Shale gas is 25% of us production. Those Wells also are short lived and regularly need to be refracked. A ban would quickly shut down that production - which would lead to widespread shortages and huge price spikes.
The solution is to eliminate demand, not supply. Without demand, production will fall off.
How to eliminate demand? Fund expansion of renewables and nuclear, subsidize electric cars, and electric house heating.

(171,029 posts)our candidates. I was on FB and someone posted that Biden supported fracking. I wanted to argue the point but also wanted to have my facts straight. So I figured this was the place to go. I'm glad I didn't argue and am disappointed.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris filed suit Monday to block oil fracking off the coast of California.
The complaint, filed by Harris office and the California Coastal Commission, specifically challenges a federal environmental assessment that clears the way for drillers to resume the controversial method of oil exploration.
The suit argues that the U.S. Department of the Interior and two of its agencies, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, failed to fully analyze and disclose the potential environmental risks of new offshore drilling processes like hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking, and acidization. Both practices rely more on hazardous chemicals than do traditional extraction methods.
The U.S. Department of Interiors inadequate environmental assessment would open the door to practices like fracking that may pose a threat to the health and well-being of California communities, Harris said Monday. We must balance our energy needs with our longstanding commitment to protecting our natural resources and public health.

(68,455 posts)B. she just said it in order to influence the election...politics... promise and more promises. But I prefer a candidate to be more honest abut what is possible.
While I don't support her in the primary should she stage a comeback and win the nomination, she has my full support in the general.

(2,560 posts)I think all of the candidates are in favor of banning fracking. Only Bernie thinks that the federal govt actually could do that. Not sure he's right, but it again makes me think that our focus needs to go to the Senate race because ultimately that's who might save us.
