Kirsten Gillibrand Officially Enters 2020 Democratic Race

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York officially joined the 2020 presidential race on Sunday, declaring in an announcement video that America needs “a leader who makes big, bold, brave choices,” and that she is that leader.

There was little drama about whether Ms. Gillibrand would officially enter the presidential race ever since she had announced she was exploring a run in January on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” She has spent the last two months traveling the country and raising money, in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, California and Texas.

The video announcement kicks off a busy week for Ms. Gillibrand that will culminate in what her campaign is billing as her first speech as a presidential candidate next Sunday in Manhattan, which she will deliver, pointedly, outside one of President Trump’s properties.

1. Low-tier candidate

I can't imagine a scenario where she can get over 5% support on average or be a contender for VP. She might be able to get some low double digit support in NY (if she is still around by then) but that's it.

>20% Top tier: Sanders and Biden
10-20% Mid-tier: Harris
<10% Low-tier: Everyone else

It is very crowded at the bottom right now, it's really dependent on who the media and the money want to build up. The media will take turns hyping and tearing down individuals in order to get ratings of course.

Just because a choice is "big and bold" does NOT mean it's the right choice. We can do better than Kirsten Gillibrand.

I cannot support her.

Health care: Franken’s provision in the 2010 health care overhaul requires insurance companies to spend at least 80 percent of premiums on health care, not administrative costs, marketing, CEO salaries, or profits. If insurers don’t meet the requirement, they must rebate the difference.

Wall Street: In the wake of the 2008 financial meltdown, Franken’s provision to reform Wall Street credit rating agencies became law. It is designed to help prevent future meltdowns by ending a dangerous conflict of interest that let the credit rating agencies give Triple-A ratings to investments they knew were “junk.”

Mental health in schools: Franken helped successfully push for millions of dollars for schools in Minnesota and across the country.

No Child Left Behind: Franken won passage of bipartisan provisions to support foster students, mental health in schools, principal training and recruitment, computer adaptive testing, after-school programs and school counselors and funding to help low-income students afford AP tests.

Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig school: Franken fought for years to secure the funding to rebuild the school in northern Minnesota.

Added a provision to the healthcare bill forcing 80% of revenue to be spent on Healthcare, and not advertising/lobbying/CEO salaries.

Several of his amendments bolstered funding for education and mental health.

Also, aside from legislative influence, he was a brilliant, articulate, and downright vicious pitbull when it came to calling out Republican bullshit publically, and when he did, it was often in the news, getting put out there before the public. On a quick search, this was just the first of many results on looking up his Republcian takedowns, and the attention they garnered:
