Biden nearly declares his candidacy with a slip of the tongue

NBC News

DOVER, Del. — Joe Biden nearly declared his candidacy several weeks ahead of schedule as he previewed the message he’d take to the campaign, telling his home state Democrats that he had “the most progressive record of anybody running” even as he appealed for a return to bridge-building politics of consensus.

Biden’s keynote address to the Delaware Democratic Party’s largest annual fundraising dinner was not supposed to be an announcement speech. But for the second time in less than a week he walked close to the line as he addressed a very friendly audience.

As he spoke longingly of what he called the “Delaware Way” — the politics of a small state where Republicans and Democrats can do battle but do so respectfully — Biden noted he has been criticized at times by what he called the “New Left.”

“I have the most progressive record of anybody running,” he said, prompting a standing ovation from the hundreds on hand and a quick correction from the former vice president. “I didn’t mean it. Of anybody who would run!”
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

The polls are including him, people keep talking about him, he seems to have staff in place, yet he isn’t being hit with some of the things a more conventional campaign gets hit with. All of this is at no cost to him as well.

I didn’t omit that. It was in concert with my “conventional campaign” comment. We are a long way out from voting. Sanders didn’t make his formal announcement last time until the end of May. It’s absurdley early. Why be put on the spot with policy right now if you don’t have to? He is benefiting from controlling his own narrative.

He'll bask in his (perceived) popularity as long as he can. This is a total vanity project for him, this part. I wonder if he's aware of what's waiting for him, once he can't "control his own narrative" any longer. It's really kind of sad.

put humpty back together again.

That's one thing about me...I was never against old folk. I always thought old folk have the most to offer. I've thought this my whole life even when I was very young. It just so happens the near 80 year old white guy has the best chance at beating the near 80 year old orange guy hands down. Who else comes close?
