Joe Biden Said He Advised Hillary Clinton’s Team Not To Debate With Donald Trump Over The "Access Hollywood" Tape

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/henrygomez/joe-biden-hillary-clinton-trump-access-hollywood

“Is he suggesting Hillary's reaction to the Access Hollywood tape should have been, ‘Oh, nevermind?’ That is a pretty Mad Men-era mentality," a former Clinton aide said.

NEW CASTLE, New Hampshire — Joe Biden said Friday that he advised Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016 to “not get into the debate” with Donald Trump over his comments about groping women from an Access Hollywood recording that surfaced a month before the election.

The remarks came during a long response Biden offered to a supporter who wondered how the former vice president would debate Trump without coming off as too antagonistic.

if called on the tape, Trump was going to do a Bill Clinton smear that could do damage so he advised not opening the door. The previous OP includes transcripts which show that indeed door was opened on a barrage while then Hillary tried to back right out of.

I ought to follow this advice, which is the principal I think Biden was operating under:

Don’t roll around in the mud with a pig. You will get filthy and the pig will love it.

And to this day, people would be saying that that was one of the reasons she lost.

Hillary Clinton was the only one in the ring. It's not up to anyone to second-guess her from the sidelines. And Biden doing it is unseemly and inappropriate. He needs to stop trying to make himself look good by mansplaining to Hillary and concentrate on how HE's going to run in the 2020 primaries.

How could she have basically ignored his repulsive behavior? She would have lost a LOT of women voters by acting like it didn't matter. I really would rather he hadn't revealed this because it reinforces the impression that he's out of touch.
