Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWe asked 100 New Hampshire insiders about the Democratic field. Here's who they favor.
PoliticoDozens of state representatives, party leaders, operatives and volunteers said they werent planning to vote for the former vice president in the nomination contest and many publicly aired concerns about his age, energy and gender.
A striking number of party activists said they were undecided as 19 presidential candidates delivered stump speeches over seven hours at the SNHU Arena, according to interviews with 100 delegates by POLITICO.
Elizabeth Warren led the way among the surveyed delegates who had made up their minds, followed by Bernie Sanders in second and Biden in third.
Thought about going, but I'll be in Iowa to see the crowd in two weeks.

(25,111 posts)They very much favor Republicans. That said, isn't this vote state not caucus.
And for Delegates, total sum includes a combination of other states for nomination consideration.
So, One candidate can obtain more delegates, but another can win the votes from the electoral from that state.

After the age of 65, the incidence of Alzheimers doubles every five years.
But EW appears at least twenty years younger than either of the men. Her energy and her quick, analytical thinking leaves both of them in the dust.

(48,959 posts)greater for women than men, her risk of developing Alzheimer's in the next decade is comparable to the risk for Biden and Sanders.
But it's minimal for all of them.
Btw, Warren almost certainly dyes her hair. If she didn't, if people could see how gray or white her hair is, it's unlikely anyone would claim she looks much younger than Sanders and Biden.

And there is not clearcut evidence that women have higher rates of AD,after accounting for differing educational and professional levels.
https://www.alzdiscovery.org/cognitive-vitality/blog/how-does-alzheimers-affect-women-and-men-differently
Age is the major risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, and women on average live longer than men. However, longevity alone does not fully explain why two-thirds of Alzheimer's patients are women. Even after taking into account the difference in longevity, some studies have suggested that women are still at a higher risk [2]. Results varied though based on when and where the studies were carried out, and gender differences in educational and occupational opportunities may also have contributed to these mixed results [3]. Less education (e.g., none or primary school only) is associated with increased dementia risk, while higher levels of cognitive activity at mid- or late-life are linked to delayed onset of cognitive impairment [4][5]. Interestingly, a recent analysis of numerous studies across the world did not find that the prevalence of Alzheimer's was significantly higher in women than in men after controlling for sex differences in longevity [6]. Greater educational and occupational attainment for women in the past few decades may be closing the gap in dementia incidence between women and men [7]. But unless sex differences in longevity diminish, women will continue to make up a large proportion of Alzheimer's patients.

(1,399 posts)There's absolutely no evidence she is showing any sort of cognitive decline. Joe is Joe and has always had the occasional slip-up and yes it has gotten a little more noticeable, but for the most part it's people doing a lot of disingenuous Biden concern trolling, almost always with ulterior motives.
Having said that, ALL of our more senior candidates are in vastly better condition than you-know-who, whose brain is currently in bobsled mode (going downhill fast).

(794 posts)This is disheartening. Last month Hannity/trump was here in Manchester, NH. The fervor was maga. Trump was so fatigued, weak, ludicrous but still inspiring to the crowd.
But Dems will kill us with love and divisions.

No reason to too excited about the undemocratic caucus of Iowa and the non-representative NH primary.

(53,763 posts)follows and with California and its huge cache of delegates now included is of great importance.
No disagreement from me there. BTW, Gov. Cuomo of NY is also trying to move its primary up to Feb.
And I still say Iowa and NH don't matter that much anymore considering their lack of diversity.
Do you agree?
