Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumFive Democratic presidential candidates are beating Trump
Here's the upshot of the fact that five Democratic contenders are polling ahead of Trump in head-to-head matchups in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll: They're all "electable." You can vote for whom you like best, who you think has the best vision for both restoring the country and moving us forward, and not whom you think the rest of the country could hold their nose and vote for.
Trump never tops 41% against Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, or Pete Buttigieg. They, in order, lead him by 16, 12, 11, 10, and 6 points among all adults. Trump is flirting with below 40% support, a steady decline from a high of 45% in July's poll. All five also lead Trump among registered voters, with Biden leading by 15, Sanders by 9, Warren and Harris by 7, and Buttigieg by 4.
Trump's thoughts this morning of the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks are about "fake news."
Trump recognized the exact minute the first plane hit the Twin Towers that horrible morning with tweets, of course, attacking the "hypothetical poll, done by Washington Post/ABC".
"This is a phony suppression poll, meant to build up their Democrat partners. I havent even started campaigning yet, and am constantly fighting Fake News."

(9,895 posts)I don't care if they show the Democratic nominee up by 50 points, unless we see electoral college breakdowns of polls, the national numbers mean absolutely NOTHING.
Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin - these MUST come home to the Democratic Party.
Florida or North Carolina or Arizona going Blue and it is time to exhale...
Fantasy Island? Georgia or Texas going blue and the rout is on...
Literally NOTHING else matters in the 2020 polling and campaign.
Seriously, if you live outside of those 8 states, your vote is already meaningless or taken for granted in one column or the other. California is over before it begins. So are the Confederate states and the plains and the Rockies (outside of Colorado). Indianastan is a lost cause, so too is Appalachia (Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia)...
I live in East Kansas, and unless I could clone myself 250,000 times, the Democratic nominee is going to lose this state as sure as they will lose original Kansas.
This election is about avoiding the theft of 2016 again. It is Michigan, it is Wisconsin, it is Pennsylvania. And then it is about stabbing the GOP in the heart by taking ONE of Florida, Georgia, Texas or North Carolina - which would put the margin BEYOND theft once more (as it was for Obama both times).
But for anyone putting stock in national popularity polls, remember the feeling of the 9th of November!
Remember, remember, the Ninth of November

(37,291 posts)the Democrats act like they did yesterday in North Carolina.
They should poll election fixers. Then they'd be more accurate.
