praise Biden.

Axelrod's tweet:

This pre-debate video tribute to @BarackObama from @JoeBiden is about as subtle as a screen door on a submarine.
Not only is he claiming co-authorship of Obama’s record. He’s sending message to the others:
“You want to attack Obama’s record? Make my day!”

Response to that from Yale professor Howard Forman:

He is not wrong, though. Rare is the VP as loyal and as helpful. Rare does it end as well as it did. And you can see Biden’s influence on much of the agenda. So, good for him!!

Axelrod's reply to Forman:

I totally agree. @JoeBiden was a loyal and valued partner to @BarackObama. He’s not over-claiming here. It’s just interesting timing, coming hours before the debate.

And just before the debate is interesting?

I suspect Biden is sending a heads-up: Let's cut out the Obama criticism that bled into the last debate. Doesn't help the party or any of our candidates. Just offers up fodder to the Trumpers.

Just to be clear, I’m not criticizing @JoeBiden for touting his partnership with @BarackObama, which was genuine and strong. Nor am I criticizing the video or it’s timing, hours before the debate. I’m just noting the obvious strategy behind it.

There is a lot of sentiment about missing President Obama out there. The Dotard is so bad that this is the case. We didn't say that about Clinton and the right did not say it about Bush. People don't keep talking about the past POTUS the way they do now.

And if Biden is nominated, President Obama can echo all this.

that he served as second in command for 8 years beside the greatest president in our lifetime. Most Democrats understand this and respect his loyalty and experience.

That is why he is leading...that is why he will win.

I don't care that he was Obama's vp.

Vp's do nothing.

They're there in case the Pres dies or becomes incapacitated.

They don't make policy, they don't keep the country on track, they're just there to smile for the camera.

I'm not saying that makes Joe bad. Only that I don't care what he did as VP.

Tell me how you're going to solve the problems that face this country. You won't have Pres. Obama to do things for you, you'll be in charge.

Tell me how you won't let the criminals in the white house currently get away with everything they've done (like bush and cheney did)

Tell me how you will stop putin's attempt to destroy America and Europe.

Tell me how you'll make the world a better place for everyone.

...

Because everyone on DU is so uptight about it, hell yes I'll vote for Biden if he's our nominee. But I won't be happy about it. I don't think he has what it takes. He will give whatever is left to the republicans in order to look like he's willing to work together with everyone.
