Why Did Biden Lie About Locking Kids in Cages?

To be clear, it was nowhere near the vast number of children locked up under Trump's barbaric policy, but the fact of the matter is that many children were locked up with Biden in the White House. There is tons of photographic documentation, to the point where I've seen a bunch of times where Dems horrified by Trump's policies posted harrowing pictures taken during the Obama administration.

Now, I absolutely love Obama - he's just one of the coolest guys on the planet - but this was one of the few glaring mistakes of his administration. Biden is well aware of the families that were separated during his time as Veep, so it begs the question - Joe, why did you go there?

He could have simply said nothing, but chose to lie instead. This is not some gaffe. It's mendacity.

As I've said many times, I like Biden. He is not my choice anymore than, say, Dick Gephardt was ever my choice, but in the face of some real problems Irag, Wall Street, etc.) I recognize all the good that both Biden and Gephardt have both done over their careers.

I would like for Biden to retire with dignity and his reputation intact. So please, Joe, don't do this sort of thing.

Inaccurate, would have been an appropriate description for so many reasons, but the OP chose to call Biden a LIAR

I mostly don't participate in the Democratic Primary Forum's food fights, but I sure am observing the inflammatory bullshit that some find necessary to use

and while it is still very early in the primary process, from all indications, those kind of inflammatory, divisionary remarks or implications seem to be having the opposite of the desired effect that those who make them want.

It will be interesting to see when the candidate field narrows down who is left standing, and I would speculate it won't be those whose campaigns and respective supporters engage in such rhetoric.

I would also like to emphasize that the Warren campaign does NOT engage in such characterizations by calling other candidates liars or other types of name calling, nor do most of the other candidates. The fact the Warren focuses most of her energy on where she stands on the issues, and how she believes it can be accomplished, is a big part of her increase in the national polls.

Is just plain mendacity. I didn't say anything when Biden said it the first time - my issues with Biden are substantive and I avoid times where he simply misspoke.

But my wife is from Mexico, our child as dual citizenship, and this is something that appalled us even back then. For Biden to repeat this only a few days after being called out on it really sucks - I like him as a person and I don't want to have him leave with anything less than a great reputation in my eyes.

While I don't judge candidates by their supporters, a good number of people do.

6. Families were NOT systematically separated under Obama. You saw photos of some teens in "cages"

because some young teens crossed the borders by themselves.

Obama was keeping families together; but then a judge said Obama couldn't even do that longer than 20 days, so then he started releasing the families on the 21st day. So Biden was NOT lying. It was not Obama policy to either prosecute all border crossers or to separate families.

Under Sessions, in April 2018, they announced a new policy of prosecuting all undocumented border crossers, and throwing the parents into jail. Obama wasn't doing that.
