Michael Avenatti: Why Beto can't win

Michael Avenatti would like to remind you to "LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE!!!"

https://spectator.us/beto-michael-avenatti/

When choosing our candidate to run for president, Democrats shouldn’t be thinking about who’d make the best president. It’s not about who is the smartest candidate or the most experienced. It’s not about who looks the best in a suit or a dress. Instead, it must be about one thing and one thing only: who has the skill set and qualities to actually beat Trump? It’s not Beto O’Rourke.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Who is a scrapper and would take the Trumpster to the woodshed.

Have I seen Beto's fighting side? Not yet. Wasn't on the ground during the senate contest, so I don't know how he performed during those debates. I tend to recall hearing he held his own against Cruz, the great debater.

That being said, Avenatti also said only a white, male could beat Trump. Neither women nor POC need apply.

So, there's that, as well as: How much do we trust Avenatti's opinion on anything?

Yes Biden is scrappy and that's good, he also has a long record to defend so there are many points of attack, that's not so good. I saw his speech where he supposedly gaffed and thought it was very good. I'd like to see him punch back now, especially if he can do it on twitter.

Brava for that! Which is probably true for most of us.

It's early yet. We need to see all these candidates on the road and in the debates to really evaluate who has the what for. And yes, the ability to punch back on social media, to the control the online messaging/twitterverse is important.

Whether we like it or not.

The good news is that we have a really strong stable of candidates. One of whom will rise to the top. Then we'll know.

I like Beto O'rourke and am impressed with him on many levels....but he has little experience and I completely agree with what Avenatti's opinion piece said. Beto is the wrong person to put up against Trump. Maybe in 8-12 years after he has been a Senator or a Governor and can demonstrate how he leads.

In the meantime - I think he would be a great fundraiser for the Democratic Party and the Candidates who take on Trump.

fundraiser prowess is real and impressive. At this point, a Biden/Harris ticket sounds like a winner, IMHO

But I'm still waiting to see how this all shakes out.

O'Rourke does have my attention, however. Don't think I'm alone.

He still owned Cruz.

In particular watch how he completely, and effortlessly deflects cheap barbs. Orange Hitler would be slaughtered by him in a 1 on 1.

If that one doesn’t do it look up the 2nd one where Beto kicks off by referring to Cruz by 45’s nickname for Cruz of “Lyin’ Ted”.

about any of our candidates. We only lose in 2020 if we fight among ourselves. With that said, now that this thread is here, let me say, I have only one criteria for picking our candidate; he or she has to be as tough as nails.

I have 2 females and one male in mind so far. I will leave it to speculation if Beto is one of my choices.

Policies in 2020 are for fools. Conventional wisdom fools. Nothing matters except picking the person most likely to defeat Trump.

Beto understands you don't have to be a so-called street fighter against Trump. That is another conventional wisdom flop. If we nominate someone who tries to trade barbs with him the favorable rating of our nominee will take a steady slide and settle alongside Trump's.

and the attacks will drown out his message unless he has an effective counter. He apologized for his teenage writing. I think that's a mistake. Teens do weird things. Then they grow up. That's all he needs to say. He can add a barb if he wants, but he shouldn't be ashamed of being a weird teenager. Is there any other kind?

I doubt I need that grifter's opinion on the subject of for whom I should vote.

Guess what the sum total of effort, in dollars, was expended by Avenatti's PAC on behalf of ANY candidate in the 2018 election cycle?

Answer: ZERO.
