Working Families Party Endorses Elizabeth Warren
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/16/us/politics/working-families-party-elizabeth-warren.html
The Working Families Party, the labor-aligned progressive group whose electoral influence has grown since the 2016 election, has endorsed Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts for the Democratic presidential nomination, a boon to her candidacy as she attempts to position herself as the main challenger to former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
The party endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont during the last presidential cycle, at which time he described Working Families as the closest thing to my vision of democratic socialism. The groups endorsement of Ms. Warren on Monday, one of the few by a prominent progressive organization this early in the primary, could turn heads among left-leaning Democrats desperate to defeat Mr. Biden, the more moderate front-runner, in a primary election where their partys ideological future is at stake.
If our focus is on victory, we cant be delusional about it, said Maurice Mitchell, the Working Families Partys national director. You dont defeat the moderate wing of Democrats through thought pieces or pithy tweets, you defeat their politics through organizing.
Mr. Mitchell brushed off the possibility that the groups endorsement would be seen as a sign of a splintering of the progressive left. The vote among tens of thousands of party members resulted in a commanding majority for Ms. Warren, a party spokesman said; she received more than 60 percent of the votes on the first ballot.

Though I must note WFP didn't prevent Bernie from getting crushed by Hillary in the 2016 NY. Democratic Primary .. Perhaps Liz can get some good from their endorsement that Bernie couldn't ...

our progressive Democrats this time. I don't admire their delusion that moderate liberals are a big threat they should be trying to defeat right now, but Sen. Warren's a solid Democrat -- with doable plans -- who'll also be doing her best to persuade people to vote for our nominee, her or another Democrat.
Question asked of Republican Senator Ron Johnson:
Do you personally consider health care as a privilege or a right?
I think its probably more of a privilege. Do you consider food a right? Do you consider clothing a right? Do you consider shelter a right? What we have as rights is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Past that point, we have the right to freedom. Past that point everything else is a limited resource that we have to use our opportunities given to us to afford those things.
Sen. Rand Paul talked about this on the floor of the Senate. Hes a doctor. He said the minute you consider health care a right, well, whos going to satisfy that right? And those people who have the skills to satisfy that right, what does that make them if theyre forced to provide you with that rightful product or service?
