Beto O'Rourke to visit Aurora Thursday for town hall meeting on gun violence
Democratic presidential candidate Beto ORourke will make his first campaign appearance in Colorado on Thursday when he holds a town hall meeting at a restaurant in Aurora to discuss gun violence.
Beto will hold a town hall in Aurora to listen to community members impacted by the epidemic of gun violence, according to a Tuesday campaign news release. The town hall meeting will be at City Cafe inside the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, starting at 5 p.m.
Colorado Rep. Tom Sullivan, D-Centennial, who has been a vocal gun control proponent since his son, Alex, died in the Aurora theater shooting, will introduce ORourke, according to a Tuesday news release by the candidate.
Republicans and Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, who had been collecting signatures to recall Sullivan, scrapped the bid in June. Alex Sullivan was one of 12 people killed during the Aurora theater shooting on July 20, 2012, in which at least 70 others were injured.
