TRUMP CAMPAIGN VIDEO JABS AT BIDEN'S GAFFES

Not going to post the video. But this is what we are up against.

Trump campaign video jabs at Biden's gaffes

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/461788-trump-campaign-video-jabs-at-bidens-gaffes

The Trump campaign released a video Tuesday that goes after former Vice President Joe Biden for his verbal gaffes, which are interspersed with comments from various news anchors commenting about whether he has stamina to run a presidential race.

President Trump's Campaign Manager Brad Parscale tweeted out the video showing cuts of Biden's slip-ups. News anchors are then shown on screen using words like "unsteady," "shaky" or questioning whether he has the "mental and physical stamina" for the race.

Towards the end of the video, fellow 2020 rival Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is seen saying in an interview, "There are definitely moments where you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder."

The video ends with Biden sitting amongst an audience, with his eyes closed and seemingly asleep.

29. These alleged gaffes are eye-rolling examples of the absurdity of the press or the woke left
Tue Sep 17, 2019, 10:49 PM
Sep 2019

To many Biden supporters, who polls consistently show are older, more working class, and more culturally conservative, these alleged gaffes are eye-rolling examples of the absurdity of the press or the woke left. They think the young activist in eastern Iowa should toughen up, that the throwaway line to the 13-year-old is endearing, and that Biden’s lack of precision when he speaks, about scooters or so many other things, is a sign of his authenticity. And they grouse that Biden is held to a standard President Donald Trump is not.

How Democrats see such episodes is at the heart of the Democratic primary. One side views these sorts of typical Biden campaign-trail moments as evidence of a politician well past his prime — casually sexist in a way that might have gone unremarked in, say, 1973 when he first joined the Senate. His supporters see them as good examples of why he’s the lovable Democrat best-suited to beat Trump. What is clear is that the critics, who are louder and more visible online and on cable TV, have had absolutely no impact on changing Biden’s status as the steady front-runner in the race.

This woke-working class divide is at the heart of the most salient fact about the Democratic primaries: Nothing has damaged Biden. Biden entered the race with about 30 percent support nationally and he has that same 30 percent today.

The Biden in many people's mind, the Biden of years past, is not the Biden they're going to see between now and election day. That Biden will not be on the ticket. And I really believe that as more people see today's Biden, they're not going to be as confident in his ability to beat Trump... I'm certainly not.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that we're seeing this this early.

about rivals on conservative sites? Every single candidate will provide them with grounds to fear-monger, smear, lie, blow things out of proportion. I am not gonna dignify the stuff by getting specific.

... I was referring to the video at the link in the OP.

I agree that every candidate is going to be smeared. But I think this attack against Biden can be particularly effective, because it is so demonstrable by those actual clips of Biden speaking.

And such a message will probably be reinforced by additional Biden appearances that people will see. Once the seed is planted, people won't miss it when it continues to happen, and it is likely to continue to happen. Which I think makes Trump vs Biden in a debate a very risky proposition.

Yes it is ironic and hypocritical that Trump could go after Biden in this way, considering his own history of muddled speech. But that doesn't mean it won't work.

30. Why is it so hard to accept the fact that Joe Biden in likeable and electable???
Tue Sep 17, 2019, 10:51 PM
Sep 2019

Biden consistently has commanded a staggering lead among black voters. Two-thirds of black voters over 65 are backing Biden, as well as 42 percent of black voters overall; Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) comes in a distant second with about 12 percent support. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is down at 8 percent and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg is not even registering at 1 percent.

This sounds like a pretty interesting story. Instead, “frontrunner, but …” is a common refrain. Consider the new Axios-NewsWhip 2020 tracker that found Biden has been bombarded by negative coverage. Of the 100 stories about Biden that got the most social media attention, 77 were negative. Presumably, the same is true of cable news.

Even with the magnification of Biden’s gaffe-du-jour and the flow of media admiration of Warren’s surge — both of which reflect a true story — Biden’s backers are the most committed. Nearly 65 percent of his supporters say they’ll definitely support him, as opposed to just 34 percent of those who support other candidates.....

Why is it so hard for people to grasp that Biden isn’t just the most “electable” but, rather, the candidate with positions most in line with Democrats’ preferences? His platform is made up of policies that poll incredibly well and his supporters aren’t masking their love for progressives in favor of a safe bet. They like Joe.

Wed Sep 18, 2019, 09:23 AM
Sep 2019

And the stuff you quoted applies to the primary, not the general. It is saying not to assume that he's leading the race merely because he is seen as most likely to beat Trump, but also because he and his positions actually have strong support among Dems... which I don't doubt, but isn't the question at hand. In fact, I am MORE supportive of the idea that people should vote for him in the primary if they genuinely think he and his positions are best than I am with the idea that we should vote for him because he's most electable.

In short, I agree with the stuff you posted, that Biden's biggest strength is not electability, but rather that people actually like Joe and his policies. What I worry about is that, while yes I think he is electable, I also think he is beatable, and I think more so than some of our other candidates.

So much for "believe women," when it comes to anything that might not be flattering to Senator Sanders campaign.

Perhaps you should read the actual words of the women you are dismissing as "crying rapey," because that sounds like the reaction they got when they tried to stop one of the worst offenders from running for office:

When I outed Arturo Carmona as a sexist who did not deserve to serve in Congress, people told me, “He didn’t rape you. What are you complaining about?” These are real comments I received. Really, progressive world, this is the standard we are setting for women: anything less than rape is fine?

Clearly they think Biden's a real threat to Trump. Bernie, not so much.

Some GOP lawmakers would like nothing more than a democratic socialist to be the opposition's presidential nominee.

We've never had a chance to see what oppo the GOP and Russia would unload on Bernie should he ever actually be a challenger to Trump. The polls that pit Bernie against Trump never take into account that Sanders has never been the target of any negative campaigns by the GOP. In fact, he's been the beneficiary of millions in spending by GOP dark money superpacs.

All that would reverse about 30 seconds after the Convention if he actually ever got the Democratic nomination. All the oppo that they are sitting on would be leaked according to precision timing that Russia and Assange helped them hone in the 2016 General.

That is what we would be up against with Sanders as the nominee.

“That’s a lot of people back there for a — like an 11 o’clock speech. That’s a lot of people. (Laughter.) That’s a lot.” (In fact, the speech was after 2:00 pm ET.)

“This Shell petrochemical plant in Beaver County, Pennsylvania — I did very well here. We did very well. How many points did we win by? Does anybody know? I'll tell you. Isn't it, I think, 28 points?
That's a lot.” (Trump won Beaver County by 19 points in 2016.)

“I got sued on a thing called ‘emoluments.’ Emoluments. You ever hear the word? Nobody ever heard of it before. They went back. Now, nobody looks at Obama getting $60 million for a book.” (Obama signed his book deal in 2017, after leaving office.)

Trump’s two and a half years in office definitely have changed the political and media world.

Shouldn’t they also change how we cover gaffes and misstatements?
