Someone enlighten me on campaign contributions.

How much can an individual donate before / after the primaries to an individual candidate?

To the Local / State / National Party?

If my candidate does not win the nomination, does that affect my contribution to the candidate who does?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

An individual can contribute $2,800 at most to a candidate for federal office in a single election cycle. That means you can give $5,600 to a single candidate in an election year: $2,800 during the primary campaign, and $2,800 more during the general election.

A primary election, general election, runoff election and special election are each considered a separate election with a separate limit.

There are limits as to what you can give to judicial candidates but otherwise one give unlimited amounts to state candidates in Texas I know that several donors gave Greg Abbott million dollar contributions
