Bernie Sanders Had Heart Attack, His Doctors Say, as He Leaves Hospital

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/04/us/politics/bernie-sanders-hospital.html

Senator Bernie Sanders had a heart attack this week, his campaign said on Friday, as he was released from a Las Vegas hospital.

“After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work,” Mr. Sanders said in a statement.

22. The doctors said that he had a myocardial infarction....

https://www.verywellhealth.com/heart-attack-vs-cardiac-arrest-1746273

An MI occurs when a coronary artery, one of the arteries that supplies blood to the heart muscle, becomes suddenly blocked. The sudden blockage robs a portion of the heart muscle of its vital blood supply, and the muscle dies. So, a heart attack is the death of a part of the heart muscle.

This was not a minor incident or, as some here described it, an "out patient procedure".

3. That's exactly as I suspected.

And everyone told me I was making-shit-up. From the very beginning, I knew this wasn't some simple "outpatient procedure". I knew something was up when he had that dizzy spell and fell in the hotel shower, busting his head open and needing stitches. There's a reason why they call coronary artery disease "the silent killer" (along with high blood pressure too... and the risk of strokes with no symptoms until it's too late... so keep an eye on your BP people!!!)

This is some serious and deadly business. Good to know that his doctors are taking it seriously... but it's a pity that his campaign was so cagey and stingy with the information that people deserved to know.

I watched that video with his current wife Jane and she was totally out of her element. She was saying positive words... but subconsciously shaking her head in a negative side-to-side gesture as she was saying them. When she had run through all the rehearsed talking points, she started to repeat herself. It was uncomfortable to watch. I kinda felt sorry for her for a second.

I'm just saying that anyone who hopes to be our party's nominee has given up the privacy expectations that ordinary citizens expect... whether medical or financial. It just comes with the territory... get used to it.

Also, since they're ONLY JUST-NOW admitting to us that he had a HEART ATTACK... I'm convinced that this could possibly and very likely be the "watered down" version of what really happened. It's an honest question, and people deserve honest answers.

The American voters DESERVE to know if the candidate they are being asked to consider nominating is actually healthy enough and strong enough for the VERY STRESSFUL job of President of the United States and Leader of the Free World.

27. I'm looking for someone with the vigor and vitality to serve EIGHT full years.

One of my priorities in choosing a candidate is to make sure that he (or she) is someone who can fulfill EIGHT YEARS (two terms) in office. There's so much to do... I just can's see how I could (in good conscience) vote for anyone who -- statistically speaking -- isn't likely to even finish the first four years.

All I'm trying to say is, we need a strong and HEALTHY president who will be able to "hit the ground running" and who will be able to CONTINUE to sprint the entire marathon distance. That is the candidate who will get my vote.

Now I know that others may have different priorities and standards that aren't as strict as mine are... but I do not believe I'm being unfair or unreasonable.

No speculation that Bernie has been hiding health issues for years, is lying about his health, has MS, wears a full body brace, wears diapers, has only months to live, has seizures during interviews, has a brain disfunction because of misspeaking once. No National Inquirer stories, WikiLeaks, InfoWars, Fox, questioning his mental and physical stamina. The media have been polite and respectful. How luxurious.

Feeling 'great' is not the same thing as being healthy. Fact of the matter is, Bernie has heart disease. The fact that he survived this episode does not mean that his cardiovascular issues have been "cured" or "healed".

It's a deadly mistake for people to think that they can "get over" coronary disease the same way that one gets-over the flu. He may be "feeling great" but he's not "all better".

But, as you pointed out... if it "makes you happy" to believe incorrect information... then by all means "go for it".

25. Why wouldn't they be forthcoming and honest from the very beginning?

At first they were insisting he hadn't had a heart attack.
Why wouldn't they be forthcoming and honest from the very beginning? The BS campaign was reporting "no heart attack" as if it were fact, but it wasn't. Why didn't they just say "too early to tell" or "we don't know yet" or words to that effect?

Now that the precedent has been set... now that we know what to expect... (and now that we know the TRUTH is TOTALLY OPPOSITE from what they told us) I'm afraid that I will now (and forever more) have a VERY DIFFICULT TIME in being able to trust any news at all that comes from them.

All I'm saying is... they should have been honest, direct, transparent and forthcoming FROM THE VERY BEGINNING... but they weren't. And that's a shame. The BS campaign has totally lost my trust on this matter. I can't believe anything they say when it comes to this subject.

30. I guess they were totally unprepared....

I don't understand why they thought it was a good idea to wait three days to announce this
I guess they were totally unprepared... but all things considered, you'd think that SOMEONE would have considered the possibility. After the "slip" and fall incident at the hotel (which, at this point, it's clear to everyone that it was likely a cardiovascular episode as well) they should have made some decisions that would have ensured openness, honesty and transparency. But they didn't. So that's VERY POOR PLANNING on their part. I give them a grade of F.

So... there they are, caught totally flat-footed and unprepared. Now it's crunch-time... a decision MUST BE MADE, and it MUST BE MADE QUICKLY. And, in this regard, they fail as well. They had the opportunity to be open and honest and transparent... yet they chose to deliberately obfuscate. Rather than saying "we don't know" or "it's too early to tell" ... the answers and information we were given was NOT the truth.

And at THAT point, they already had OVER TWENTY FOUR HOURS to come up with something... and THAT is the story they decided to run with?? Knowing full-well that the full truth would eventually come out anyway, they chose THAT path? (Amazing.)

I can only repeat what I wrote earlier: Now that the precedent has been set... now that we know what to expect... (and now that we know the TRUTH is TOTALLY OPPOSITE from what they told us) I'm afraid that I will now (and forever more) have a VERY DIFFICULT TIME in being able to trust any news at all that comes from them.

31. From the Texas Heart Institute:

“Most patients stay in the hospital for about a week or less. Upon returning home, you will need rest and relaxation. A return to all of your normal activities, including work, may take a few weeks to 2 or 3 months, depending on your condition. A full recovery is defined as a return to normal activities.”

Imo, he needs to at the minimum...go home, lay low, rest for a few weeks, gradually get himself back to ‘normal’.
This is nothing to be messed with, and at his age, prudence is required.

Campaign? NO.

Surrogate DrDooleyMD (notorious for her #NeverHillary and #HillaryForPrison posts during the 2016 general election campaign, as well as for her embarrassingly unprofessional long distance "diagnoses" of the Democrat) did her best to help elect Trump by stoking HRC "health crisis" conspiracy theories in September - October 2016.

38. It's decision time. It's 13 months before the election and then 4 more years to serve if he wins.

Does anyone think there won't be another incident in all that time, considering he also had the fainting in the shower incident before this heart attack, which apparently was an earlier heart incident?

It's time to face the music and do the right thing for his health and the party. Campaigning for president with all the travel and multiple events a day is physically taxing for even those with no heart incidents.

Getting right back on the campaign trail is not wise for someone who just had a heart attack, and taking a month or two or three to rest, which is probably the best thing to do, will just about kill his campaign so Bernie heeds to make a tough but necessary decision.
