Biden Faces Fundraising Woes as Buttigieg Appears to be Snatching Up Some of His Donors

Even though polls largely show that Biden continues to be in the lead, the apparent limit for Biden to appeal to big donors and his failure to light a fire among small-money donors “has served as a flashing warning sign about the potential limits of his appeal,” notes the Times. Where are all the would-be donors? Maybe with Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The host of a recent fundraiser for Buttigieg claimed that the crowd was filled with “a lot of those people you would have thought would be Biden people. And they weren’t.” Many of those who were there had an overwhelming feeling that “Biden has already lost,” according to the Bradley Tusk, who was manager of Michael Bloomberg’s reelection campaign for mayor of New York City.

1. No surprise there... why Joe went back on his promise not to take Super PAC money.

Time to face the music... when the campaign donations dry up, it's pretty much over. I had that "overwhelming feeling" Joe had lost, a while ago... now others are finally catching on too.

Bernie/Elizabeth or Elizabeth/Bernie 2020!!
Either way, they're stronger together!!

That's an overwhelming delusion. I'm rooting for Elizabeth Barren but Biden, without question, is in the box seat. A multimillion dollar smear campaign hasn't left a mark on him.

3. I respectfully disagree... it's obvious Joe has lost his mo'! The dwindling campaign contributions

is a "leading indicator" of the declining poll numbers that surely follow.

6. Joe's been ahead in the polls from the very beginning... seldom though does the "lead horse"

finish the race among the top finishers. This comes as no surprise that Joe is starting to fade, which splains all the talk about Hillary entering the race. That would crush Joe's chances almost instantly, guaranteed.

Use only A and B rated polls and Biden has either extended his leader or retaken it. Including early states

Happy to provide links!

he might have to ride out a slow start in Iowa and NH, but past that the areas he is strong in will start to kick in.

He is the front runner, EW the next likely.

I like Pete a lot, but think he on ramp is as EWs VP.

Buttigieg has vastly out fundraised Biden to the point where Biden has reversed his long held opposition to receiving support from Super Pacs to salvage his cash short campaign.

Both Buttigieg and Biden are perceived as moderates in the current field of candidates and have been competing for the same donors.
A competition that Pete has decidedly won.

Biden's financial straits are so dire that analysts wonder if enough donors would even contribute to a pro-Biden Super Pac so it does not appear he has been bought by just a few donors or corporations.

Hence the necessity to turn to Super PACS ……. I don't think Buttigieg has a very strong chance to win the nomination ...I'm surprised he is raising so much money amongst the super-rich donor class ………….6 montths ago , I thought they would have turned to Kamala if they perceived Biden was a losing bet …….. I still believe Biden has the strongest chance to win the nomination ………...I surprised he isn't raising more money ...People usually want to donate to the likely winner

Hmmm.

Seems the donor class does not have a lot of faith in Biden winning, doesn't it?

But it's not like that matters. No one has to reverse long held positions against receiving help from Super Pacs because they are so short on cash... oh... wait a second...

Biden flips stance on super PAC help amid cash struggles
The former vice president's campaign is now open to getting help from a big-money outside group.

Joe Biden's campaign has opened the door to super PAC spending on his behalf in the Democratic primary, reversing an earlier, self-imposed ban on outside backing as Biden struggles to match rival presidential candidates in campaign cash.
