Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWill the Biden Super PAC be taking dark money from Big Pharma, Big Insurance?
My guess is yes, to the tune of millions, the origin of which will not be known publicly. It turns out that the head of the Super PAC has a company that regularly takes money from pharmaceutical and medical device companies:
"the actions of the PACs pro-Biden predecessor, American Possibilities, also organized by Rasky, are a likely indicator of the groups future fundraising policies. American Possibilities accepted more than $113,000 in donations from lobbyists for Apple, Boeing, Facebook, and the NFL, as well as unregistered influence peddlers working on behalf of a host of industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals to finance.

The forum has been filled with alarm at Warren's public MFA proposal, while nothing is said about the incredibly profitbable companies that are opposing it, as they want to continue to reap big profits off the backs of people who can't afford the current costs of healthcare.
I guess the Biden campaign could ask the Super PAC supporting their candidate to be transparent about who is funding them but that, of course, would go against the whole point of Super PACs, which is to protect those funding them from prying eyes. So we won't know. And the Biden campaign could accept their help while denying it at the same time.
I would bet the companies and their CEOs are already opening their pocketbooks to give to the pro-Biden Super PAC.

(7,510 posts)Healthcare and finance are cash cows for these people and they will do anything to protect their interests. The fact that a Democratic candidate's Super PAC may help them in that goal should be very alarming to anyone who cares about economic inequality and the healthcare of our people.

I believe Pacs are a necessary evil at this point. I also believe there are good PACs and bad PACs
For example, Our Revolution a 501c is a good, even though they are not required to disclose their donors or the amounts they give.
Barbara Boxers PAC for a Change is also a good PAC IMHO.

There are wealthy people who are good liberal Democrats. Tom Steyer is an example of that.
As others note below, Super PACs are required to disclose their donors.
guesses and speculation arent facts.
Have a great weekend!

(7,510 posts)It should have been clear. Saying there are good wealthy people has nothing to do with the fact that corporations are there to maximize profit and the people who run them will do many things to ensure that. And there is a difference between a PAC and a Super PAC.

(7,510 posts)Thye are created to make profits and the people who run them will often - if not the great majority of the time - do things that are in the best interests of that goal - even when it is to the detriment of others. An example would be the millions of times claims have been denied and people go into bankruptcy. That shouldn't be tough to grasp since we have been discussing this problem for decades.
Have a nice weekend.

(7,862 posts)Next time, you might want to have a basic understanding of campaign finance before you slur an opponent based on your own ignorance.

(7,510 posts)If the Biden Super Pac is funded by big money groups who favor keeping the system as it is, would you be ok with that? Would that be a slur? Or would you profess ignorance?
