88-Year-Old Mike Gravel Is the Latest Teen Sensation.

On Tuesday night, “#Gravel2020” popped up out of nowhere on the long-dormant @MikeGravel Twitter account. A few minutes later, a post laid out what it claimed were Gravel’s presidential intentions. “I am considering running in the 2020 Democratic primary,” it read. “The goal will not be to win, but to bring a critique of American imperialism to the Democratic debate stage. The website (mikegravel.org) is under construction. Official announcement will be in the coming days.”

I guess I miss the resentful victim gene or something. Relentlessly negative doesn't ping with me. Isn't it every bit as blind and dishonest as telling everyone everything's wonderful?

And the refrain definitely kicked my anal gene. No one EVER didn't let this man speak. He was a U.S. senator for god's sake.

How about us? Anyone not letting you speak?

Thanks for sharing something that speaks to you, though.

I guess I could qualify that as my favorite "way offbeat" ad. If I looked at it seriously I might have a different reaction. By the time he made it though he wasn't being given many actual speaking opportunities though no one tried literally to stop him from talking.

Thanks for trying it though

At my age, for what it’s worth, I’m not surprised by seemingly “youthful” attitudes among the elderly. Bodies always age, but not all minds grow even somewhat wiser, and most of us are an awful lot like the people we were 50 years ago, emphasis perhaps on the awful for too many, just less physically energetic.

intellectual growth and even some greater wisdom should be reward and compensation for long years of living and declining bodies, but so often isn’t. I am more knowledgeable, a lot, than I was long ago, but much wiser? I’m really not sure. Can’t remember.

But I think I can see how some kids can look at Gravel and see something of themselves in him.
