What does Pete Buttigieg believe? Where the candidate stands on 7 issues

Known as “Mayor Pete,” Pete Buttigieg is the two-term mayor of South Bend, Indiana. He’s a Harvard graduate, part-time pianist, and a prominent member of the millennial generation — Buttigieg recently celebrated his 37th birthday.

Buttigieg is also a Rhodes Scholar and member of the Navy Reserves. In 2013, two years into his first term as mayor, he was deployed to Afghanistan for seven months.

Former President Barack Obama once called Buttigieg — who won the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage award — the future of the Democratic Party.

Here is where Buttigieg stands on the key issues in the 2020 presidential election.

Climate change: Thinks climate change is a national security threat. Supports the Paris climate accord.
Economy/trade: Supports labor. Thinks NAFTA resulted in significant jobs losses.
Guns: Supports universal background checks.
Foreign policy: Supports pulling troops out of Afghanistan.
Health care: Supports single-payer system.
Immigration: Supports a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
Social issues: Supports a federal non-discrimination amendment.

two years ago. He is my second choice at this point. He would be my first choice, but I'm concerned that he wouldn't win a general election because of homophobia. I can already anticipate Trump mocking him with limp-wrist gestures and faux concern about his morality, even though Trump is the most immoral president this country ever had.

It would be like him saying that a woman belongs in the kitchen or that all blacks steal and eat watermelon. He would be universally criticized (well except by Foxnewsbots)

However, his base would probably applaud him since they think women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.while the base doesn't care in the least about blacks or homosexuals.

I’d be very surprised if he were anything but pro-choice.

He is very impressive. Clear, no-hesitation responses and a man with a resume to die for. Whether his governing background as a mayor will be sufficient remains to be seen. But he's a very good candidate.

That the 2016 election came within "the margin of cheating" - whatever that is
That dem presidents in the past 30 years (along with the Rs) were 💩
That people voted for 🍊 out of "economic anxiety" (in softer words)

Joe Biden
