(67,782 posts)And you're right, most Democrats AND high ranking Democrats do fundraisers for the Democratic Party, be it the DNC or State Parties.
In the past in Connecticut, we've had Barack Obama (when he was a Senator), Vicky Kennedy because Ted was stuck in Washington due to important votes, Martin O'Malley (who, sorry to say, was boring), and other high level Democrats. This year our guest was Nancy Pelosi. Bill Clinton has also been here at fundraisers, although not our big annual event.

Our dinner was called the traditional Jefferson Jackson Dinner, like many other states' dinners. Then longtime Democrat John Bailey's name was added, a while back. And now that Jefferson's and Jackson's names have been removed, it was changed to the Connecticut Democratic Freedom Dinner, now simply the John Bailey Dinner.
