Keep this in mind in the nomination race: What If the U.S. Had Multiple Political Parties?

What If the U.S. Had Multiple Political Parties?

"SNIP.....

Echelon Insights looked at U.S. registered voter support in a hypothetical multi-party democracy.

Here’s what it might look like:

28% Labor (working class center-left)
21% Conservative (traditional-right, pre-Trump)
19% Nationalist (basically Trump)
12% “Acela Party” (socially liberal, globalist, fiscally centrist)
10% Green (basically AOC)

....SNIP"

Keep these numbers in mind when you choose a Democratic Nominee for President i mean.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

The three liberal and left parties pull 50% of the voters, the two right parties pull 40%, presumably the other 10% were 'don't know', but the point is that a 50-40 split is hugely favorable to our side.

5. i believe it would hurt liberals because they are a more diverse coalition.

Conservatives are happy to sing from whatever hymnal they are handed. They will vote in a block regardless of issues. As seen today, they are voting for bigger deficits, alliances with dictators, anti law and order corruption, all anathema to conservatives just five years ago.

Liberals are more independent thinkers. The Democrat coalition will splinter into smaller parties, some, I fear, made up of "purity" voters. The Democratic Party of today is already "herding cats" to keep the coalition together under one umbrella.

Notice the difference in the crowded GOP Presidential field of 2016 and the crowded Democratic hopefuls of today. Virtually all of the GOP candidates were Foxbot conservatives with similar proposals. The Democrats running today have a wide range of governing philosophies.

It has had for decades. Perhaps you're talking about a proportional election system, instead.

We don't have that. Some countries do have that. I'd take a look to see how it works in those countries before suggesting it as a solution for the United States.

I think there is more than enough critical evidence out there that they are much more willing to unify behind each other no matter what. It does leave me very curious how these parties would split and result in the swing states though, or if the multiple parties would turn other states into the swing state category.
