Asshole at Subway Shop

So, I'm working today and on my way I decide to stop for food at Subway. Talking to a really nice young lady behind the counter and we got into politics. Young lady is black and other patrons are a several black females, me (old white female) and a Hispanic man seated at a table.

Well, in walks a Mike Pomeo clone and hears what I said about Fox -- the Russian TV station. He pipes up and says, "Are you the one with the Kamala Harris bumper sticker?" I replied that it was me indeed. So, the clone says, "Did you know she got her first job by sleeping with Willie Brown?"

I told him,"Great, so you think that women have no brains and only genitals?"

He was speachless...and I left with my bag of goodies to fist bumps and applause!!!!!

"I happen to know that's not true". If they respond "yes, it is true", then I say "prove it right now or shut up".

Although I may not have proof at hand that what they say is a lie, I do have around 99% probability of being correct because of the overall Republican track record of spreading hundreds of false conspiracy theories. Every winger I've know the past several years has a head brimming over with this bullshit and they repeat it like a parrot.

Another good line is "sorry, I don't participate in spreading random gossip. In my world, that's immoral". Most often however, I just refuse to engage with them because that's what they want, it achieves nothing and it's not worth the interruption of my day. Life is just too short for this old man to waste it on random Republicans in public.

Most of the brilliant responses tend to come late at night, just as you're about to fall asleep! The best ones are short, to the point, and dismissive, leaving no room for a rebuttal.

I am really amazed with people like this guy though, who just waltz blindly into a situation and feel the need to express an unwanted opinion to people they don't even know. It reminds me of all the people I've encounter in my life, who have made blatant racist remarks to me, assuming for some bizarre reason that I would agree with them. Most of them usually regretted it and hopefully thought twice before doing it again.

A few years back, I knew a guy who managed a game store. This guy couldn't be any whiter. He even had red hair. One day a customer made some disparaging remarks about black people, assuming that Wayne would share his attitude. Well, not only did Wayne have an African American employee, but he was married to a black woman and had two lovely little girls. Wayne handled it very well and managed to find some humor in how clueless and inept the guy was.

This happened in Sacramento, probably the most diverse place I've ever lived and the one place that any halfway conscious person knows that you can't assume anything about anyone's nationality or ethnicity.
