the next great liberal hope. Amazing that not one of them got elected, eh?

Problem is that for every teabagger out there, there's a "progressive" who claims to be every bit as possessive of the "truth" as the wooliest right wingnut.

And for a dose of the "truth" we have NEVER, EVER elected a liberal or progressive as president. OK, I'll give ya Jimmy Carter, but he didn't run as a liberal, and when we found out, we elected Reagan.

Don't bring up FDR-- we elected him because of the Depression, not labor rights or the environment. Or even racial or civil rights. Cousin Teddy was all for consumer rights and nature but human rights and such did escape his notice. And he did get thrown under the bus with hardly anyone caring. More to the point would be that guy with the cross of gold speech, but who lost anyway. Then he lost the Scopes trial. But so it goes...

So, given that the voting population is a third wild-eyed reactionary, another third wild-eyed liberal, and the last third just wanting to get on with things with as little trouble as possible, doesn't seem sensible to run a candidate fairly close to the center leaning a bit to the left?

Bloomberg is basically an honest, decent guy who happens to be worth billions because he's smarter than the rest of us. He's also given away more than Trump has ever claimed to own. (So much for wealth tax)

Is that so bad?

Trump is so bad.

More billionaires preaching austerity for everyone else

To reduce the deficit we must cut entitlements

Q: Your thoughts on the sequester?
BLOOMBERG: Winston Churchill once said, "You can always depend on America to do the right thing after exhausting all other possibilities." We've had a democracy for 235-odd years and it works in the end, and that's what's in important. Sequestering is here. It will go on for a while. It's not going to be the end of the world as we know it. And everybody was saying, "Oh, the worst-case scenario is exactly what we're going to implement." And now they're into the real world and they'll try to find ways to do more with less, and then hopefully Congress will come together and modify sequestering to cut things back where we can afford it and not where we can't. And keep in mind, no program to reduce the deficit makes any sense whatsoever unless you address the issue of entitlements, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, interest payment on the debt, which you can't touch, and defense spending. Everything else is tiny compared to that.

Bloomberg proposes deducing income inequality by increasing the earned income tax credit as a way to increase the real-world income of low wage earners, which he believes will lead employers to increase hiring vs raising the minimum wage, which he believes reduces jobs.

Bloomberg says the way you solve the problem of wealth inequality by creating opportunity and creating jobs.

He may be right or wrong, but the OP paints a false scenario.

That is NOT Bloomberg's position.

He is in favor of expanding the earned income tax credit as a way to boost income.

He is not my candidate, but you are not being honest in how you are portraying his position.

His position is that his position of an increased EITC would have the same effect as raising the minimum wage for a worker, but would do so without providing a disincentive to employers to hire.

That's quite different that what you suggest here.
