So this singles to me that Bidden will not pursue prosecution for the crimes Trump has committed.

Chanting lock him up is not good or bad. It is merely an expression of frustration and anger by the people who chant it. I think people should be able to express their feelings as long as they are not threatening violence.

We have the rule of law period. And we should not ignore that because we dislike Trump and think he is a criminal (which he is of course). After 20, if we win, Justice will make that determination. Even guilty people don't always get prosecuted and Trump may have covered his tracks too well. We don't know yet. 115. The DOJ needs to make this decision
Mon Nov 25, 2019, 06:31 PM

Biden wants the DOJ to make the decision free of any political influence https://news.yahoo.com/biden-tells-dems-cut-lock-030251383.html?soc_src=hl-viewer&soc_trk=tw

“I don’t think it’s a good idea that we model ourselves after Trump and say ‘lock him up,’” said Biden. “Look, we have to bring this country together. Let’s start talking civilly to people.”

The comments from Biden came during the Democratic presidential debate on Wednesday night and were another case of the former VP making a call for restored civility in a primary season that has witnessed more than a bit of blood thirst from the base. Chants of “lock him up” first made news when Trump attended a World Series game in Washington, D.C., and, subsequently, at a Bernie Sanders campaign rally.

Biden was asked, initially, if he would support a criminal investigation of Trump should he become president and the current White House occupant be out of office. He demurred, saying that such calls should be at the discretion of an independent Department of Justice.

“It is the attorney general of the United States, not the president’s private attorney,” he said, underscoring the prosecutorial independence of the post.

that chanting "lock him up" with respect to a political rival who has not been found guilty by the legal system is a kind of banana republic thing to do, and as such does exactly mimic what his crowds were doing with respect to Clinton. If Trump is ever charged and tried, which is doubtful, he would almost certainly be convicted of any number of things - but that hasn't happened and might never happen. Demanding the locking up of someone who has not been convicted of a crime is what they do, not what we do. I hope.

And peoples perception that she had engaged in criminal acts almost surely played a significant role in that loss.

Although she was innocent.

And we KNOW that Trump is not. Hell, just what we know about Stormy Daniels ... the fact that freaking COHEN has been tried over it, and IS in jail ... even though he CLEARLY was NOT the beneficiary ...

Trump deserves jail, and I support the voters spontaneously chanting about it.

Mon Nov 25, 2019, 11:30 AM
Nov 2019

We all know that should happen, and that if he were charged and tried he'd almost certainly be found guilty of lots of things, but under the law he's innocent until that happens. Biden is expressing his (correct) opposition to demanding the locking up of a political rival who has not been found guilty of a crime. The law presumes any person, even a slug like Trump, to be innocent until found guilty. Biden, unlike Trump, is a believer in the rule of law. Sounds like a good thing to me.

Roper: “So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!”

More: “Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?”

Roper: “Yes, I'd cut down every law in England to do that!”

More: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man's laws, not God's! And if you cut them down, and you're just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!”

1. Several digits at the end of the name suggests an automated program created the account instead of an actual human, who likely would have chosen a different or modified name.
2. The user has a huge amount of tweets in the past five months (over 50+ tweets/day since the account was launched), the vast majority of which are retweets and memes.
3. Speaking of memes, this was tweeted hours before and in contradiction to the tweet in the OP.

Maybe this user is a real person; but there are certainly enough questions to be suspicious of this account. It is nice to see an account being so supportive of a Democrat and Democratic views; but that doesn't make it an account to trust blindly without reservation.

If indeed a candidate requests any specified chants, it would seem that the civil thing to do would be for supporters to honor that request; otherwise, choose to make another choice in rallies one might attend.

People, there is no going back to the mythical world of Democrats and Republicans getting along for the common good.

That world did not achieve liberty and justice for all. That world was a world where we lied to ourselves about liberty and justice for all.

We can have a democracy, we can have a democratic republic----but we are going to have to fight like hell for it.

The spectre of climate change alone is going to cause the fearful to seek a strongman leader.....and climate change is just one of several major challenges we are facing.

Our problems are not going to be solved without blood, sweat and tears. There will be shouting.

Many democrats as well as republicans are turning away from democracy. Our world is now so complex it will seem to many that we need a kind of dictatorship to get things done.

We are not going to secure a democracy by silencing ourselves or not speaking about the real threats we are facing.

He can do it calmly and respectfully but truth needs to be told.

You become a “ cog in the wheel “ when you lower yourself to this kind of negative crowd mentality. Don’t want to be a cog in the wheel... do something positive... volunteer, speak positively about your candidate.

Shouting negative comments at a rally doesn’t cut it

Mon Nov 25, 2019, 12:59 PM

and to lock up HRC, including some such as general Flynn who chanted this too, I'll say whatever I damn well please, and if that includes saying out loud to 'lock him up!', so be it. My first amendment right shall not be stifled. I'm sick and tired of listening to others rant and rave their ridiculous things, and if it's my time to mouth off at them, so be it. I'm exercising my first amendment right thank god.

We're not at a Chess Club meeting or the Book of the Month club.

We know that we're fighting against voter apathy and low energy (as in all elections it seems).

We have literally over a dozen presidential candidates running against rump (the presumed republican nominee), and we need every bit of energy to counter rump's constant stream of lies, outlandish claims, vindictiveness, etc., as well as the almost overwhelmingly boring election cycle thus far (it seemed to have started way too early). Candidates are already running out of money...go figure.

Making campaign promises such as college for all, universal health care for all, income inequality (addressing and dealing w/ it), climate change, etc., or other such things won't do it, if anything, will drive voters away. It's way too early to promise something period, and besides, it's got to go through both congressional houses and then to the executive office for signature.

Why are some candidates focusing so early in the process on such big gigantic issues that already are complicated and involved, and a one sentence or thereabouts blurb on it isn't the way to resolve the issue. If anything, you're giving the other side more means to bash democratic candidates (they're socialists they will claim (probably already are)). I know that each democratic candidate is trying to stand out above the others for votes, but perhaps don't promise the moon yet. Wait until you're in office, then start dealing w/ the serious issues. Why do we have to put stuff the table? rump certainly isn't.

We need to boost the energy and enthusiasm levels, and show that non rump voters are full of energy and enthusiasm for life, are eager and keen for a different kind of government, one that's for people actually (and not the 1%ers).

114. Biden wants the DOJ and an independent Attorney General to make decision
Mon Nov 25, 2019, 06:30 PM
Nov 2019

Democratic front runner pushes back against enthusiasm. Isn't there a climate emergency we can talk about?

A big segment of anti-Trump voters wants a corrupt president defeated. Miss Manners tactics now?

How hard is it to stick to the real issues? There's plenty of them on the table. Set the example with a focus on policy and a turnout strategy and we win. Depress turnout among the base and we could lose.

But of course, mollifying the opposition is ok as long as it's Biden, right?
