Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumUneven coverage btwn. Joe and Pete and 'send in the suitcases'
So, Pete said this 8 years ago, and because someone 'found' it, it seems super edgy and whoa! good catch. And that's all the MSM talks about.
But at the 3rd democratic debate THIS year, Biden says essentially the same thing ,although the record player thing may be all that took hold in the public's mind because, hey, he's good ol Uncle Joe.
If there was any case for media meddling look no further.
What happened? Last week it was all 'Super Pete' surging. Well, this just killed that.
Is the mainstream so hooked on Biden that the media seems to have forgotten that 3rd debate, and will overlook Obama's non-endorsement of Biden, or are they just freaking out because they saw the real poll #'s on Bernie?
You'd think there'd be enough to talk about this week than pick on Pete.
Something is super fishy here.

(68,552 posts)and Buttilieg forever...now they can't because when he wins they look bad. Your OP is not accurate and should be amended...as I said there is no non-endorsement of Biden by Obama.

(14,176 posts)But part of it is the newness of the South Bend mayor. A lot of the perception of VP Biden is already baked in: people know he makes "gaffes" all the time and that voters in the African American community and the nation generally know him and have made judgments already, whether positive or negative, based on in part on those gaffes.
But with a largely unknown mayor, whose record regarding social justice issues is largely unknown, the recently-reported comments about how "minority" and lower income kids don't have role models to demonstrate the value of education--a comment made at a time Barack Obama (B.A. Columbia, J.D., Harvard) held the highest office in the land--is important because it helps fill in a portrait about his worldview.

(48,969 posts)it is correct, and it matches your numbers, then this new poll has Biden gaining 2 points and Sanders and Warren both losing 2 points since their poll a week earlier. Buttigieg gained 1 point, had been at 6% a week earlier.

(1,086 posts)is that he seems to say the right thing at the right time.
He is selling a generational shift, the idea of his "Wokeness" is situational is a story. Biden saying something anachronistic is not.

(58,785 posts)the ones they already got bored covering for years in other races. They always fasten on some shiny new candidate(s) they can try to make an "exciting" product to sell. They try to push them along and create a picture of a race with suspense, also controversy and drama, and the truth becomes the effect on the electorate of their manipulations to create a good-selling product.
This syndrome happens every election, for much the same reasons they create new TV series each year instead of just rerunning the old popular ones in prime time.
Second, much of the MSM is once again working to keep Republicans in power. The corruption we're seeing on the right is also very heavy in the media. They sabotaged us big time in 2015-2016.
Biden's neither the crooked or the venal MSM's candidate. Trump is, but he's a very weird and dangerous product, and and he and obviously corrupt and treasonous Republicans are making it very hard for big business to take care of itself as usual.
As to what's up with Buddigieg, find some genuinely good analysts and over time some good analysis may be provided. Right now too many are just telling people what people think.
And, btw, never discount how fickle and shallow a lot of voters are; all these candidates are like supermarket tasting stands for some people. Worse this time, of course, with so many candidates, new ones coming in sight encouraging forgetting what was just nibbled at.

(31,233 posts)Even Joe? That's not how he rolls, but I can see how some campaigns running 3rd & 4th place would like to make it an issue. Deval Patrick is a very good friend of Obama's, and AFAIK, he hasn't endorsed him either. What could that possibly mean?

(2,897 posts)As they do Harris, Sanders, Warren, Booker, and Buttigieg.
The Buttigieg piece was the one that went viral. It's not a conspiracy. Hell, you do know team Sanders has been laying into Buttigieg a bit heavier than Biden or the MSM has. The Intercept is calling him out at every opportunity. Nina Turner blasted him ahead of the Atlanta debate. Sander's supporters were sharing the article.
