Democratic Primaries

The only way we lose in 2020 is if we fight among ourselves.
The foreign and domestic trolls and bots are going to be worse than 2016, Trump did nothing to stop them.
Is it too much to ask for us to remain positive? If you don't like a candidate do you have to trash him/her?
It is fine to say that "I don't plan to vote for so and so, he/she isn't my first choice." That isn't being negative.

(7,142 posts)I may very well vote for Kamala Harris, but she has skeletons in her closet, what good would it do for me to bring them out? All of our candidates have skeletons, none are perfect. I couldn't believe the attacks that are out there against Amy Klobuchar. I thought everyone liked Amy. (doesn't mean they plan to vote for her)
Yup, I think we should ignore issues like Nina and that's just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.
I am positive of one thing and one thing only, the only way we lose in 2020 is if we fight among ourselves.
The foreign and domestic smear jobs against our candidates is going to be overwhelming. I hoped we learned a lesson from 2016.

(8,556 posts)I dont think there is anything in Kamala's background that is serious. I heard alot already and I dont see a problem. She has effectively handled them all to this point.

(42,862 posts)All I'm trying to say is this... it's simply NOT TRUE that there's "no difference between Democrats and Republicans" and we should have to remain silent and be on our best polite behavior whenever this type of divisive disinformation is being spread. What good purpose does it do to smile and stay quiet in the face of such obvious lies and smears?
These lies about Democrats and the Democratic party only serve to demoralize us and divide us. If low-information voters have been convinced that there's "no difference" in the parties, then they end up having no reason to vote for Democrats (or to vote at all!)
Here's the thing... these lies only serve to TARNISH and WEAKEN the Democratic party... and a weakened party only benefits the GOP, and Trump, and Russia! I refuse to remain silent and I will call-out and push-back against the disinformation campaign against the Democratic party.

(14,565 posts)Anyone who doesn't apply the word incumbent to Donald Trump is whiffing the big picture. We do more of a disservice in pretending 2020 will be a cinch, than in critically comparing our candidates to each other toward goal of selecting the best one to defeat that incumbent.
Many sites I post on do not allow political discussion at all. That's how heated it is. So how can we possibly pretend it is out of bounds to make logical and needed evaluations among our group of candidates?
The tippy toe aspect is long gone, or should be. When we've got Russia and bots and social media of all types coordinating efforts to viciously attack each candidate, then how can we dare pretend that something posted on Democratic Underground is damaging to our cause? It may have sounded good in 2001 but is long passe.
I would argue it is just the opposite. The scrutiny is necessary so our candidates are beefed up. I am very encouraged that we are dealing with the socialism tag now, and not in fall 2020. At this point in 2015 half the threads on this site should have been related to the accelerating problem with white non-college educated voters, and how to craft a message toward them to save a vital percent or two.
