Biden Spox Issues Statement on Allegation of Inappropriate Behavior: He Didnt Have an Inkling She Was Uncomfortable
by Josh Feldman | Mar 29th, 2019, 6:29 pm
A spokesperson for former Vice President Joe Biden has issued a statement responding to the allegation of inappropriate behavior from former Nevada assemblywoman Lucy Flores.
Flores wrote today about a 2014 event when Biden inappropriately touched and kissed her. She also noted examples of similar uncomfortable behavior from Biden towards women in public.
A spokesperson for Biden responded in a statement earlier tonight:

(6,280 posts)....was polling at under 10%, this issue would probably never see the light of day. I'll go one further. If Joe Biden would not have even considered entering the race, odds are this issue would never have seen the light of day.
The supposed incident occurred in 2014. For five years it was never mentioned. Now that the primaries are heating up, Lucy Flores, a known Sanders supporter, is now bringing forward an accusation against the only person polling ahead of, and likely to beat Bernie Sanders. It's as likely a scenario as any other.

(6,280 posts).... had she made any attempt to express how much trauma this incident had made on her at the time, or even anytime shortly thereafter. This is not a case of whether the incident occurred or not. She would have people believe this was a traumatizing event. The impact of that traumatizing event does not hit her until 5 years later? Right in the heyday of a primary in which, declared or not, Joe Biden is a major player? At the very least, it's questionable

(52,152 posts)and I don't find that suspicious. I can absolutely understand why she thinks it is important to come forward given he is running for President where he would be around women who owed him favors.

(68,470 posts)For Sanders whether he is aware of her actions... I don't know. I find her story ridiculous. It won't work. In my opinion; the sooner we have a nominee the better. And despite tricks like this one and Sirota's attacks on Beto, I doubt Sanders will be the nominee...of course any nomnee has my vote in the general if I am wrong- including Sanders.

(6,280 posts).... of Joe Biden's proclivity to be a little handsy with the females. Given his past, shall we say, transgressions, this incident would barely register on a scale of offensive.
If her intention was to inform the public as to how heinous Joe Biden was, why didn't she inform us while he was vice president? Why didn't she inform us while he was ex-vice president and a citizen? Why did she wait until the primary season when Joe Biden, declared or not, was leading, and most likely would have beat Sanders if it came down to those two?

(10,713 posts)my daughter was a cheerleader and brought her friends over to the house sometimes, pretty much all great kids. Once she was there with a friend after school to do a cheer project, and I introduced myself, asked how things were going, asked if they needed anything to drink or if they wanted some lunch...just regular "good dad" stuff I thought. Her friend didn't really talk and they didn't need anything so I went on about my business.
Later my daughter told me her friend thought I was creepy. All I could think was either I reminded her of someone, or she had some abuse in her past. Found out later there was abuse, but at the time I just avoided her and my daughter's friends, no longer sure what to think about how I "seemed" to people. So it goes...sometimes friendly people assume other people are the same and it can wind up bad if no one says anything. Of course people shouldn't have to go around explaining their boundaries and triggers to everyone, but also it's easy for harmless behaviors to freak the wrong person out.
As seems to be the case in the OP. I'm not a touchy person myself but I know people who are, and putting your hands on someone's shoulders and kissing their head - that's a charming display of innocent affection, to me. Unless you have some harm in your past, which far too many people do.
