NPR:Lucy Flores, surrogate for the Sanders campaign, was contemporaneously aware of the allegations

of "misogyny" on his campaign.

In the midst of accusations of sexism and sexual harassment by aides on Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign, the senator's former campaign manager acknowledged Wednesday that there had been "a failure," and Sanders is promising to make sure the same problems do not emerge if he runs in 2020.

Over the past week, alumni of Sanders' presidential campaign have stepped forward to allege inappropriate behavior and unfair treatment of women. Numerous individuals said that staff on the campaign had not taken a complaint about sexual harassment seriously and had treated women unfairly.

Lucy Flores, a former Nevada assemblywoman and a surrogate for the Sanders campaign during the 2016 presidential primary, said she was contemporaneously aware of these same allegations of "misogyny" during the campaign.

There was essentially a cover-up" when issues were raised, she told NPR.

"Frankly, I do think it's a little unfair ... that the attention and all of the conversation is including Bernie's name, because this isn't just something that's limited to Bernie's campaign," Flores said.

The focus was likely on BS due to the explosive allegations of a culture of toxic masculinity and charges of harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence within his campaign.

More than two dozen women and men who worked on Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign are seeking a meeting with the senator and his top political advisers to “discuss the issue of sexual violence and harassment on the 2016 campaign, for the purpose of planning to mitigate the issue in the upcoming presidential cycle,” according to a copy of letter obtained by POLITICO.

“In recent weeks there has been an ongoing conversation on social media, in texts, and in person, about the untenable and dangerous dynamic that developed during our campaign,” they wrote.

Bernie 2016 Staffers: Sexual Harassment Claims Were Brushed Off, Ignored
Several women who worked for Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential campaign experienced “sexual harassment and demeaning treatment as well as pay disparity” problems, according to a new report in the New York Times. When these concerns were brought up to campaign superiors, they were sometimes dismissed, and in one case, laughed off, the women said.

Female campaign staffers have been telling their stories in recent weeks “in emails, online comments and private discussions,” the Times reports, and as many expect Sanders to launch a bid for the Democratic nomination in 2020, some say the toxic culture of his 2016 campaign could be a liability.

She might have said something before that campaign if she was really worried that a predator was one heartbeat away from the Oval Office. I suppose her support of Obama overrode the urgency of her claim.
The timing of going public seems questionable to me.

So I have no idea why that would reduce her credibility with regard to Biden's over-familiarity.

You made some interesting snips in the NPR article that make it seem as if Flores was covering for Bernie. That's not what I inferred from her full comments. Women like Flores raised the issue, and then someone else decided to cover up the complaints -- till recently.

Here are the paragraphs as they appeared in the NPR article you included in the OP:

Lucy Flores, a former Nevada assemblywoman and a surrogate for the Sanders campaign during the 2016 presidential primary, said she was contemporaneously aware of these same allegations of "misogyny" during the campaign.

"There was essentially a cover-up" when issues were raised, she told NPR.

Flores added that sexism isn't an issue isolated to the Sanders campaign, saying it commonly occurs in campaigns.

"Frankly, I do think it's a little unfair ... that the attention and all of the conversation is including Bernie's name, because this isn't just something that's limited to Bernie's campaign," Flores said.
