O'Rourke supporters build student network ahead of possible White House bid
Tim Reid

(Reuters) - A Democratic group seeking to persuade former Texas congressman Beto ORourke to run for president will launch mobilization efforts on college campuses nationwide to coincide with what they believe will be his entry into the race by months end.
The Draft Beto campaign, founded in December by former staffers to ORourke and former President Barack Obama, is organizing Students for Beto chapters on roughly 100 campuses in about 30 primary and general election states, said Nate Lerner, a Democratic strategist and co-founder of DraftBeto.org.
Our goal is to replicate the model and success of Betos student outreach efforts during the midterms, Lerner told Reuters on Wednesday. Winning the Millennial vote will be key for Beto in both the Democratic primary and to defeat Trump.
ORourke, 46, has said he will decide by the end of February if he will enter the already crowded Democratic field seeking to challenge Republican President Donald Trump in next years election.

And if he runs for Prez, we'll see an uptick in negative Beto-stories and memes generated by the Sanders' campaign. Because believe in him or not, Beto O'Rourke hit the ground as a rock star among the same demographic that the Sanders' campaign needs to capture. The first round of negative bombs were launched when the excited speculation about a Beto run first started.
If he commits? Expect never-ending fireworks.

(10,721 posts)And if Biden runs, there will be 3 New Englanders competing in the New Hampshire primary. That could impact the results in a number of different ways. New Hampshire is a crucial state for Sanders and Warren, as well as Biden. Just as Iowa is crucial for Klobuchar and others.
