It might be more like half.

Second, if he does much better on primary day than he does in the early voting, that might be enough to get him over 15 percent, which will allow him to collect delegates.

I don't know how Harris is popular with the Democrats in CA. You cannot like her and like Sanders at the same time.

But Obama won CA in 2008, Hillary won CA in 2016 there have to be enough Democrats who would prefer a steady hand to wild ideas of a lone runner.

And this is where her advisors screwed up. They thought that, once she won CA it was a clear sailing, did not realize that CA was not a winner take all.

I think they understood that it wasn't winner take all. But they also thought that SDs would react differently than they did. I think they expected the SDs to ultimately do one of two things:

1) Most SDs would vote for the candidate who won their state.

2) Most SDs would look at the primary race through the prism of the electoral college when determining who won.

Obama made the argument, for the first time, that pledged delegates are essentially the equivalent of electoral votes and super delegates are essentially the equivalent of honored guests to the convention. And the PD winner, even if they only won by 1 delegate, did not get the nomination then that meant that the SDs had "overturned" the will of the elected PDs.

That was what was so ridiculous about Bernie claiming in 2016 that the SDs were ever going to put Hillary over the top, even if Bernie won the support of the people. The whole concept of treating the PD winner as the rightful winner was established in order to deny HRC the nomination in the previous election. And SDs who supported Hillary would undoubtedly have gone over to Bernie had he won the PDs, just like they did with Obama in 2008.
