Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSanders Looks to Topple Warren in Her Home State
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Bernie Sanders landed in Elizabeth Warrens home state on Friday night, stood before thousands of screaming fans and asked them to help him win it.
As Ms. Warren was campaigning hundreds of miles away in South Carolina, where voting in the states primary began Saturday morning, Mr. Sanders had departed for parts north, hoping to extinguish her candidacy or at least deliver a stinging embarrassment.
With the race entering a critical phase, Mr. Sanders is looking ahead to big states like California and Texas to amass an insurmountable delegate lead next Tuesday, while also setting his sights on less glossy, but still delegate-rich states including Virginia and North Carolina.
Yet a victory in Massachusetts, where Ms. Warren was first elected to the Senate in 2012 and re-elected in 2018, would not only give Mr. Sanders, the senator from neighboring Vermont, a significant share of the states 91 delegates but also inflict a symbolic blow to his closest ideological rival, as he pushes to categorically establish himself as the standard-bearer of the liberal left.

I don't believe Bernie will get a boost out of Super Tuesday. In fact, Biden may actually win California fairly comfortably due to NPP voters not being able to pull a democratic primary ballot. I expect to see the same dynamic as 2016, where polls were way off and those polls gave Bernie way more votes than he got. The big question after his big victory last night is whether Joe boarded a plane to California, he can't do like Hillary did in 2016 after her big wins in NY, PA, CT where she went home for a week instead of Indiana where she was ahead in the polls, Bernie campaigned hard in IN and won the state and resuscitated his campaign. My guess is Bernie is spending time on the eastcoast states because his internal polling among registered democrats in California is showing big problems for him, he needs to make up the votes that he loses there. For Biden, I think his big victory in SC almost insures victory in NC and big endorsements in VA helps him big in Virginia, in Massachusetts, all he needs is more than 15%, Bernie likely needs MA a lot more.

For presidential primary elections: NPP voters will receive a non-partisan ballot that does not include presidential candidates. A nonpartisan ballot contains only the names of candidates for voter-nominated offices and local nonpartisan offices and measures. However, NPP voters may vote in a political party's partisan election if the political party, by party rule duly noticed to the Secretary of State, authorizes NPP voters to vote in the next presidential primary election. An NPP voter may request the ballot of one of the political parties, if any, that authorizes NPP voters to vote in the presidential primary election.
The following parties have notified the Secretary of State that they will allow No Party Preference voters to request their partys presidential ballot in the March 3, 2020, Presidential Primary Election:
American Independent Party
Democratic Party
Libertarian Party

(31,261 posts)Do they want a fully open primary that have republicans voting for a democratic presidential candidate. If the Democratic Party allows NPP voters in 2020, what EXACTLY is Sanders' complaint?

(3,160 posts)I guess he thinks people will be confused? Not sure. I disagree with him on this, if people want to vote for him then they'll make sure they get the correct ballot.

People in this thread keep talking like there some kind of hidden agreement between Sanders and Warren. But what evidence do you have? What are you talking about exactly?

1) Calm down? What about my post indicated I was agitated. I was just asking a question. This is a discussion board. People are allowed to ask questions.
2) LMGTFY. This is an internet trope that does not apply in this case. Telling people to google something is appropriate if they ask "how many miles are between Boston and New York?" -- that is, something that has a clear, objective answer. In this case, your source is a NYMag article quoting unnamed sources. It's much more ambiguous.
You could have just said: "I am going off of this link in NYMag." That would have been a fine response. I wasn't irritated by your OP, but honestly, I am irritated by your response.
