When you vote for a candidate you are also voting for a lot of other people.

That's something to think about when you choose your candidate. Whom would Joe Biden choose as a running mate? A lot of speculation has focused on Kamala Harris. Would you be OK with her as VP, considering that at his age Biden might serve only one term? Maybe Warren or Buttigieg or Stacy Abrams? Whom would he select for his cabinet? Some of the same people are possible choices. Harris or Klobuchar for AG, maybe? Buttigieg seems a likely choice for some position.

But these people are all members of The Establishment. Oh noes!

So what about Bernie? He said his running mate would have to favor M4A. Of the other candidates only Warren qualifies, but she seems an unlikely choice. Bernie's campaign staff and many of his supporters have expressed disdain and dislike for all of the others, insulting and dismissing them as "corporatist" or otherwise insufficiently pure. Whom does that leave as running mate possibilities or cabinet choices? David Sirota? Nina Turner? Susan Sarandon? Members of The Squad? Pressley has endorsed Warren and Omar wasn't born in the US, so that leaves AOC (too young to assume office until October of 2021) and Tlaib - whose positions are controversial, to say the least. Would any of these people be acceptable to a majority of Democratic voters in swing states as running mates or cabinet officials?

When you vote, you're voting for more than your candidate...

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Can't say the same about BS, based on who he's chosen to be around him in 2016 and 2020.

President Obama chose Biden, in my view, because of his long experience in Congress, and because both are centrists.

As to Sanders, and choices for the VP position, Warren would be the closest ideologically, as you noted.

folks are breaking their brains out there, but what they ought to be thinking about is how ready their candidate is to run the race, and how good their path to the numbers she needs is.

warren has a solid foundation, and one of the best line ups of surrogates i have ever seen. it is obvious that she is getting biased coverage when you are not seeing ayana pressley and katie porter on the teevee. srsly, my count is 2 appearances each. and i watch all day.
media sexism is self reinforcing, but we proved in '18 that women win.

Right now I don't see a path to the nomination for her, but anything can happen. If she is not nominated I would expect her to receive a cabinet position - Treasury, for example, where she would also shine.
