Hillary dominated Bernie with black voters, but they did not turn out in enough numbers in crucial large cities (Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Philadelphia, etc) in the general. Kaine certainly did not help with that.

Klobuchar would be a poor VP pick IMHO, as she has an A-A problem like Pete did, and is hardly going be a barnburner speaker of a pick, unlike a Stacey Abrams or others would be.

why not just say "this guy has a great future in the Democratic Party"? (Of course you can give him any job you want to later, once you've won the Presidency)...

I think he offered Mayor Pete "a job" publicly in order to pander to Mayor Petes voters. I am disappointed at the obviousness of it all. Is Klobuchar gonna get a Post in the Biden admin now that she's dropped out? Would Bernie get appointed to something if he dropped out too? Will Steyer be the new "environment czar?" What position can Bloomberg buy? As someone deeply opposed to nepotism and cronyism at all levels, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry to be a downer.

I don't know that he'd accept one, but making sure his ideas are firmly planted within a new administration is vital. Most of us love his ideas, we just don't think Sanders can get elected.

It tastes like a quid pro quo where a position was promised in exchange for Pete's throwing his support behind Biden. Whether that's what happened or not (more likely Biden was enthusiastic that Pete was backing him), that's how it will be spun and slung by 45/Barr/McConnell/Miller/Fox.

I would add, Sen. Tim Kaine to the or Sen. Sherrod Brown to consolidate the Electoral College with a member from the Rust Belt.
Would any of the Senators want give up their seat? Although E. Warren is a logical choice.

If Sanders is the nominee he needs someone who will bring in Florida and Arizona. If Biden or Bloomberg are the nominees they need someone who can bring in millennials and zoomers. If Warren is the nominee, she needs a younger moderate. Someone like Buttigieg.

I feel like both Biden, Bernie, Bloomberg, and Warren will all be able to win Virginia without a VP from that state.

87. What about Val Demings for Vice President?
Mon Mar 2, 2020, 09:53 PM
Mar 2020

I have enormous respect for both Kamala Harris and Stacey Abrams, and I believe either of them would make excellent VPs. But looking further down the road, I think Val Demings might have a slight edge over Harris and Abrams to be president after Joe Biden. I have only recently "alerted" to Demings and her potential as VP and future president, and I have just started reading up on her and watching her interviews on YouTube, but my first impressions are that, along with her many wonderful qualities and impressive background and experience, she has that crucial presidential gravitas. Watching her questioning the witnesses during the impeachment process, she reminded me a little bit of Barbara Jordan during the Nixon impeachment trials. Plus, she's a two-term Congresswoman from Florida (a state with 29 electoral votes), she is a former police chief with a sensible approach to gun control, and—fun fact—she rides a Harley!

But in the end, I would be thrilled to have Kamala or Stacey or Val for VP and then president.

Here's a link to her bio:
