But his rally began late in 2007 and carried over. This is the biggest I remember within election year itself.

Let's be honest, it was only possible due to that socialist tag and lacking the Democratic label. This should not be considered normalcy or anything that can be used as a guideline in the future.

Credit to DemocratSinceBirth for a thread hinting at this possibility a couple of weeks ago

I have seen it before in other countries.

In 1985 I was living in Bangkok and a former general, Chamlong Srimuang ran for mayor. Chamlong was a lay Buddhist ascetic who lived with his wife (having forsworn sexual intimacy) on a house with no walls so anybody could take anything. Instead supporters brought things like a TV.

He ran a vegetarian restaurant where diners donated what they want and the profits went to helping animals.

He announced his candidacy for mayor and spontaneously hundreds of thousands residents cut down banana leaves and made home made signs.

Like that race this was done without money.

Regular people seizing history and taking over a campaign.

Sanders had a mountain of money but Biden had a mountain of heart. A life of service built on tragedy and sacrifice is exactly the kind of life that can unite a party and a country.

He was instantly the frontrunner when he declared, and that status pushed most of the field out long before the voting. But he didn't have much of a campaign organization, or a compelling message, and Iowa and New Hampshire punished him for that. He's just reclaiming his status.
