Paul Krugman: Hard to see how Sanders pulls this out. The Democratic base didn't buy his message.

Two tweets starting here, full text below:

Bloomberg out. Warren probably out too. But not symmetric: essentially all B'berg support will go to Biden, not clear all or even most Warren support will go to Sanders.

After the past week, everyone is cautious about predictions. But hard to see how Sanders pulls this out 1/

And no, this wasn't rigged. Sanders had plenty of money, and everyone played by the rules he himself demanded. The Democratic base just didn't buy his message 2/

Yeah it works sometimes - like with Trump and other ignoble types. But only when the greater whole fails to keep together and vote together.

4. I hope sanders and his camp are seriously looking at his numbers from 16 to 2020

His vote totals are down approx 15-20% across all the states that have voted. He had hoped to bring in new youth vote, but that didn’t happen- the youth vote so far comprised 13% of the total vote. He can’t win the primary or the GE on that.

He’s registered to run as an Indy for his senate seat next time...go home ..rest and be well

we can accomplish anything in the future, Bernie railed at all that is wrong, indicting not Trump, but the party making his run possible.

In all his haranguing, he never expresses hope, optimism, or any pearls of wisdom.

Anger is not enough.

8. Sanders would have lost California and Colorado as well

Pete Buttigieg got 6.4% of California vote which was banked before he dropped out. Biden would have had nearly 48% of the vote in California when you add up Bloomberg and Buttigieg's totals to Biden's.

Same story in Colorado.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
