Democratic Primaries

I'm serious, and if Bernie's serious about his policies, he will.

(17,595 posts)the answer to your question was in the OP.
If it is about advancing progressive policies, Bernie needs to influence his followers to vote Dem even if it's not him (and it probably won't be).
If he doesn't do that, one can only assume it was about his ego all along. Or he is just too blind to see what needs to be done. (Both good reasons for him not to be the nominee.)

(11,605 posts)He's said many times that the most important thing is defeating Donald Trump and he will support whomever the nominee is. Which is a different tune than he was singing during the primaries in 2016.

Anyone paying attention would know that Senator Sanders has stated numerous times that he will support who ever the nominee is, and that voting Trump out of office is essential. Add to that the fact that Biden, Sanders, and Warren all have friendships and mutual respect, and it becomes difficult taking some of the nonsense here seriously.

(11,605 posts)Less than 50% of Democrats nationwide have had the chance to vote yet. How is it democratic to say our votes don't matter? I haven't even decided whom I'm voting for yet but I want the chance to have a say. TBH, I'd be more "bruised and angry" if I don't get the chance to participate.
Bernie has already asked his supporters many times to "vote Dem" in November no matter whom we nominate. Most of us who haven't had the chance to vote yet would like a say in who that is. It sucks that we have so many fewer choices than those who voted in early states, but at least let us have more than one option.

(16,855 posts)First it will be, "oh but there's still a chance for a huge win in this or that state". With a dash of "We're fighting to the convention because we want our voices on the platform".
Then, once ALL the states have voted, it will be "Oh but there's a chance for superdelegates and unpledged delegates to change to Bernie and this will be how he'll win...." all the while adding fuel to the fire that somehow Bernie is being cheated or treated unfairly or the process is rigged. The convention will happen, the platform will be just as liberal as it was in '16 with input from people chosen by Bernie and still some won't be satisfied and will boo "establishment icons" like Obama and John Lewis and Hillary and well you name them and I assure you it will happen. Bernie will offer up a lukewarm speech at the convention and we'll enter the general election season with a media narrative that Dems are in disarray and Dems are disenchanted with the "establishment".
This is EXACTLY why I didn't want Bernie to run again this cycle because I feared this would happen again. If I am wrong, and I hope I am, I'll gladly eat crow...but nothing in Bernie's actions today that make me think this will be any different than before.

(10,570 posts)Buttigieg has been declared the winer of Iowa 7 times. It's been certified by the state and is final. Buttigieg won both the popular vote and the delegate count. But Bernie is still trying to change it.

(16,855 posts)Pete won Iowa and any attempts to take that away from him are just infuriating, especially considering some of the homophobic crap some Sanders supporters threw at him.

It's disgusting and undemocratic bullshit.
