I'll proudly switch to Joe, but Warren deserved SO much more.

She's incredibly kind and thoughtful, and has devoted her career to making people's lives better. She also did the hard work of trying to come up with policy proposals that are detailed, comprehensive, and realistic - and not just empty slogans.

And yet she was treated as an afterthought this entire race, even when she was nearing frontrunner status. This country needs to reassess how the media covers women candidates for office. I'm damn proud to throw my support to Biden, but at the same time something has to change.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I know; I was at one of her rallies in Seattle a couple of weeks ago that was so packed I couldn't get in. Zilch, zip, nada on the local, not to say national news.

But Bernie Sanders, with far fewer accomplishments under his belt, got local and national coverage for his rally the same week in Tacoma.

The media, for whatever reason, pretty much chose to ignore her; there was even a piece called "The Erasure of Elizabeth Warren".

than the internecine warfare they seem to love to generate.

It hurt Gore, Kerry, and Hillary Clinton too. I've railed on about this before on this site, but in 2004, I attended a Kerry rally in the early morning, down on the Seattle waterfront. It was raining (and people had to check their umbrellas!) but it was a good crowd, and we all waited a long time and were in a good, enthusiastic mood. We had a great candidate who could beat Bush!

Kerry gave a powerful, inspiring speech - all of it directed to specific policy items in the Pacific Northwest, mainly the logging and fishing industries, and the environment. The crowd was enthusiastic, and the speech was well received. He spoke well, and had that charisma that national politicians give off. He was prepared, the speech was warm and friendly - but it was policy heavy.

The national media ignored it entirely. The local media mentioned he was here, but not a whiff of the speech, the crowds who waited in the rain, or any of it. No, they showed him taking his wife out for an anniversary dinner at Seattle's nicest restaurant. Translation: he's an elitist, we're going to ignore his hard work, empathetic speech, and we definitely aren't going to tell you what he said.

The national media gets lazy in my opinion. Bernie and that freaking bird in Portland got more coverage than ten Hillary events combined.

Human-interest-type stories or horse race angles. There’s also some bias, as you note. Unfortunately that’s where we are as a country—short attention spans and we want the media to sum up the candidates in a very short-hand way so we don’t have to wade through anything boring.

Primary elections have very little to do with fairness. That's a sad fact. Really, all elections are inherently unfair in some ways. Factors other than competence, ideas, and plans are not what determine the outcomes. It's more a matter of personality and the ability to convince people via public appearances, really.

The only saving grace, really, is that almost all Democratic candidates support the platform of the party to a large degree. Some try to go beyond that platform, but it's a foundation that all Democrats stand on.

What that means to us is that whichever Democrats run in the general election, they will always be better than whichever Republicans do. That's why we have a political parties. They offer voters platforms that candidates stand on while they speak and make public statements.

Political candidates don’t “deserve” things, they earn them. Warren has been a great Senate candidate and Senator. She has not been a good Presidential candidate. She had a year and all the financial resources she needed, but couldn’t get people to vote for her (even in MA).

Of those left, Joe is clearly the choice.

But damn, I feel a little bit of what Bernie supporters probably felt in 2016 and are likely to feel this year, when it is clear he won't be the nominee. At least most of them got, or will get, to vote for him. Damn it.

Joe is fine as he goes, and possibly objectively the best to face Trump in the fall, given what this country is.

But I really wanted to do better.

I cannot describe the sadness I feel about Ms. Warren dropping out of the race. To me she was by far the most qualified candidate running and I would have truly LOVED watching her wipe the floor with our chump in chief in any debates.

I must say I'm more than a little angry too. She was ignored almost completely throughout the campaign by pretty much every media outlet there is. Contrast HER media coverage with the headlines screaming about every utterance spoken by other candidates. I'm not going to name any names but I really kind of blame some running still and/or have already dropped out. Color me totally disillusioned.

While she was my first , second AND third choice I find that she's already been removed as a viable choice here too. Mr. Biden is a fine decent man who I have confidence in but he's no Elizabeth Warren. I still love you Liz and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
