Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumPolitico: Biden can finish Bernie off in Michigan
And that was before Super Tuesday laid bare the full force of the momentum Biden drew from winning South Carolina, prompting moderate Democrats to coalesce around him and persuading many undecided voters to break his way.
This thing could be over for all intents and purposes in three weeks, said Paul Maslin, a top Democratic pollster who worked on the presidential campaigns of Jimmy Carter and Howard Dean. Its done unless Joe makes some horrible mistake. He will win blacks 75-25 minimum from here on in. He doesnt have Hillarys negatives. And people want to beat Trump big time. This race is over.

Bernie's last gasp to win Michigan is likely to fail. I think he loses by 10+ points. If so it's over.

(42,862 posts)He won't. This is over. (And even if he did... it's just delaying the inevitable.) Bernie's quest to become our country's first Socialist president is a lost cause. It always has been. He knows it. His staff knows it. I know it. And I think even you know it, too. (And I'm sure that Jane Sanders is secretly thrilled that she can return to a normal life in one of her three houses... probably the cozy one with the view of the water.) Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that it's time to jump on the Biden Bandwagon. I'm looking forward to your enthusiastic support.
Joe/Kamala or Biden/Harris 2020!!

(3,733 posts)Bernie's not going to get much of a bump from Warren dropping out.
The game has changed. Bernie will keep his fiercest, never say die supporters.
Everybody else is lining up behind Joe.

The voters emphatically rejected him. I'm sure you've noticed
that a lot of Warrens supporters won't support Bernie in the primary.

(8,678 posts)He views the Democratic party as the enemy almost as much as the Republicans. I really wish he had not run this year. I think he and his hard core supporters are going to cause trouble even if Biden racks up a majority delegate count.

(5,007 posts)Sanders was supposed to campaign in Jackson,MS. He cancelled to go to Michigan instead. They said he is giving up on the black vote and gonna focus on the angry white ones. Then some people said lets finish him in Michigan. 😮 Maybe he plans to go through Michigan with his buddy Michael Moore.

(11,605 posts)But that was mostly in a multi-candidate field that thinned out between the time the poll was taken and Super Tuesday. If I recall he matched or overperformed the polls in Nevada. And the race before that was so fluid with so many candidates that I don't think they were all that accurate for any candidate.
Now that it's a two-person race, let's see what happens. Mathematically it's anyone's game. All of the obituaries for Bernie are based on polls and how he did in certain states last time against a different opponent. If they had used that logic in 2016 Hillary's obituary should have been written around this time, because a lot of the states she beat Bernie in were states she was destroyed in 8 years earlier.
