He went to Mississippi

There can be no progressive movement without the enthusiastic participation of people of color, lgtbq folks, and any group that has been marginalized. They are at its vanguard.

He wasn't a cardboard saint but at the time of his assassination he was as close to a conviction politician as one can be and get elected president.

JFK's assassination was a tremendous blow, but in my opinion, we've never recovered from RFK's loss.

The death of his brother shifted something primal in him; he knew deep suffering, and was then able to recognize it in others, and sought to relieve it.

NO ONE in EITHER party that year could have energized the populace like Robert F. Kennedy did. He touched people! People reached out to him, and he reached back. I'm not sure Barack Obama could have quite matched his charisma, and his prosaic oratory; combined with his innate humanity, he would've been as formidable a candidate as Reagan ever was--and he wouldn't have had to CHEAT to do it!

It's why he has always been my political hero.
