Bernie bails on Mississippi

Despite getting drubbed on Super Tuesday in states with a high black Democratic voter turnout, Sen. Bernie Sanders was supposed to speak in Jackson, Miss. on Friday.

That trip has been cancelled, the New York Times reports.

After holding a rally in Phoenix on Thursday night, Mr. Sanders had been scheduled to travel to Jackson on Friday for a rally focused on racial justice.

The change in plans suggests that Mr. Sanders will not challenge Mr. Biden for the support of black voters in the South — a vital base in the Democratic Party — and is instead going all-in on the Midwest as he tries to compete with Mr. Biden for working-class voters there. Black voters in the South have overwhelmingly backed Mr. Biden to this point, and on Super Tuesday their support lifted him in states like Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia.

As I said, things like this happen. And there is nobody better on the issue of racial injustice than Bernie. I think we should let the Sanders campaign make its own decisions on how best to conduct the campaign going forward.

15. He spent most of that day in New Hampshire at events, and was scheduled to leave either late....

....that night or early the next morning. The voting was just about over, the event that night was not a voter rally or public forum, it was primarily for his campaign workers.

Two ENTIRELY different situations. To equate them is unbelievable.

13. His campaign is soon to be in its death throes...

... it won't be long now. Very soon we'll see that it will be mathematically impossible for Bernie to become our party's nominee. He knows it. Nina knows it. Brianna knows it. Sirota knows it. Even Jane knows it.

I hope he's able to find it within himself to demonstrate that he's a man of integrity and that he'll go ahead and concede/withdraw as soon as it's clear that he has no path to victory. The sooner he does that, and the sooner he give a full-throated endorsement of Biden... the sooner his supporters can get over their hurt and disappointment. THIS time he needs to guide them and redirect their disappointment into action against Trump rather than remaining silent and letting his supporters stew in their own resentment and disappointment until it becomes anger and a desire for revenge.

Isn't it sad that I must merely "hope" for such things instead of automatically expecting them.
