Biden warns 'Bernie brothers' could make primary 'a negative bloodbath'

Joe Biden warned a group of high-dollar donors that rabid online Bernie Sanders fans will try to make the 2020 Democratic primary nasty, in the process mangling the "Bernie bros" nickname bestowed on the Vermont senator's most vocal male supporters.

“What we can’t let happen is let this primary become a negative bloodbath. I know I’m going to get a lot of suggestions on how to respond to what I suspect will be an increasingly negative campaign that the Bernie brothers will run," the former vice president said Friday by phone to a group of about 130 donors in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Bethesda, Maryland, according to a pool report. He lengthened the common "Bernie bros" nickname for online fans of the Vermont senator.

"We can’t tear this party apart and reelect Trump. We have to keep our eyes on the ball, in my view," Biden said.

Biden, 77, said he raised $22 million in the last five days and said that after a polling data briefing, his campaign feels "awfully, awfully good" about the next primaries on Tuesday, including Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, and Washington state, "where Bernie was predicted to walk away with it.”

Saying the whole entire name is not "mangling" the nickname. That's like saying if people referred to "Young Democrats" as "Young Dems" and Biden called them "Young Democrats" that he would be mangling the nickname.

This was long after he knew he would not have the delegates he would need.
I don't think it will be much different this time.

behavior soon soon convinced me I couldn't support them, and switched over to Hillary.

I'll never excuse them for heckling John Lewis and Hillary at the convention.

I think (or at least hope) that 2020 won't be anything like 2016. Bernie won 22 states that year and while he fell behind significantly in the delegate count winning almost half the states is nothing to sneeze at and at a very minimum looks good on a map...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Democratic_Party_presidential_primaries

After Wisconsin votes on April 7 a full 2/3 of the nation will have voted. If what I believe is about to happen actually does pan out then the vast majority of states that have already voted will be Biden blue and looking at the primary map will be visually stark.

The most extreme of Bernie's supporters can rant & rave and bitch & moan all they want but it should become readily apparent to all level-headed people that it's pretty much all over but the shouting. And the louder they shout the more it will fall on deaf ears as the Democrats turn their full attention to defeating the buffoonish imbecile in the White House.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
